An Afternoon: Maral Yazarloo, CCUOCO and Zeynep Kartel

It’s hard to believe that the talent already showcased this weekend could possibly be topped, but yesterday afternoon the designers of Fashion Scout SS16 proved that the versatility is endless.

House of Middle East & Asia with Maral Yazarloo presented a vibrant collection, entitled ‘Deja Vu’. Outer-wear shone bright, in shades of orange, mustard and teal. Each colour reflected the positive energy the individual outfits had been labelled with; joy, pride, desire. We felt them all.

Beneath the thick fabric waistcoats and jackets, often clean cut with dipped hems and exaggerated pleats, the models wore soft brown, shift style dresses. The sleek leather and suede worked well as an understated canvas for the show-stopping velvet textured overcoats. Working with traditional Middle Eastern conventions, each garment exhibited intricate floral embroidery, reinforcing the differing ideas and moods.

In complete contrast, the CCUOCO collection brought contemporary, elegant yet provocative looks to the Fashion Scout catwalk. The garments came in dramatic shades; maroon, black, cream and midnight blue. The models were styled with either slicked, wet look hair, or bouncy curls, in-keeping with the current 70s trend. However, black lipstick and faux facial piercings defined the look as modern-gothic.

Exposed, raw seams were the highlight of the collection and perfectly framed the sheer panels, with organza adding femininity to the edgy aesthetic.The daring combination of harsh leather and sheer organza was a perfect representation for the many, and often contrasting facets of what defines a woman. A complexity which is key to the concept of CCUOCO’s designs.

Day two saw elegant designer Zeynep Kartel return to the Fashion Scout run way. Her romantic, formal collection, pulled an eager and fashion-forward crowd. The pieces consisted of tailored waistcoat co-ords and floral, leaf patterned gowns, displaying both androgyny and femininity. Flashes of deep coral broke up the muted collection of navies and creams.

The neck line bared all or nothing, working plunging deep-v necklines or Bardot style capes into the dress design. Many of the floral gowns also exhibited sheer paneling and bare skin, a dominating trend from the styles presented this London Fashion Week.

Collection | Ccuoco

Ccuoco’s AW15 collection is not for the faint hearted, as Fashion Scout showcased Ccuoco’s latest collection this evening, leather clad models took to the catwalk in a fierce and vampy display which oozed attitude and style. Fitted silhouettes flattered the female form and gold studded detailing decorated the most sumptuous of fabrics. Leather was a key feature throughout Ccuoco’s collection however luxurious velvets, silks and tulles also made welcome appearances throughout the collection. A colour palette which included rich jewel tones of pillar-box red, forest green, gold and black beautifully complemented Ccuoco’s signature style.

Pleat detailing and fluid tie-back tops added a feminine ‘girly’ edge to proceedings, whilst diamante head dresses and chokers emblazoned with ‘Ccuoco’ made for the ultimate in vamp-styled accessories. Cccuoco plays with shapes as she describes enjoying “the alternate reality” and this collection most certainly lives up to her statement. Designing for the woman who knows what she wants, Ccuoco exudes attitude as the labels AW15 collection provides us with just the right balance of light and shade.

Ccuoco returns to Fashion Scout stage!

We are so excited to welcome Ccuoco back to the FashionScout catwalk show for AW15.

With her signature blend of beauty and darkness, the California native draws from her experiences of Biker culture across the US to inspire her collections. Leather work therefore is foremost, juxtaposing natural and artificial shapes to create unique silhouettes with undeniable sophistication.

Ccuoco is the winner of the San Francisco Fashion Awards 2013 “Best Emerging Designer,” in addition to a further win for Fashions Most Honourable and nomination for Designer Of The Year the following year at the same award ceremony.

This February sees the designer officially launch her label in the UK market, following her show at Fashion Scout London, 20^th - 24^th of this month at The Freemasons Hall, Covent Garden.

COLLECTION| CCUOCO SS15

Candice Cuoco went hell for leather with her SS15 collection, featuring black lingerie with biker-boot hardware and chain detailing, metallic petrol-blue evening wear and panelled monochrome gowns, all realised in slick leather. The San Franciscan takes notions of dark beauty from her childhood experiences of biker life, especially evidenced by Hell’s Angels seated front row – a Fashion Scout first.

Black leather lingerie, complete with suspender belt, buckled leg harness and thong, is certainly not for shy and retiring types. Chain detailing and gunmetal studs adorned bra tops and body harnesses, while sequinned butterfly headpieces added embellishment to sleek pencil skirts and dresses. As expected, black featured prominently in Ccuoco’s collection, followed closely by pristine white or deepest navy. Rust, bronze and copper also feature in patchwork-effect floor length gowns, paired with Cuoco branded belts in silver hardware. Bustier style designs in silver are a collection highlight, a perfect pick for edgy evening wear.

Ccuoco favoured a minimal approach in terms of silhouette, choosing instead to show her craftsmanship through simple yet sophisticated seaming and lace-up ribbon corsetry. Deep V-necks are softly folded, with a strong focus on shoulders. Headpieces were stunning, an iced black rose and spike crown particularly stands out. The devil is clearly in the detail for Ccuoco.

DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT SS15| CCUOCO

CCUOCO will be making its debut London appearance for the SS15 show at Fashion scout tomorrow.

Born and raised in the depths of Oakland California, CCUOCO won one of the main awards - San Francisco Style award for 2014 and successfully showcased at New York Fashion Week in this year. With her designs having already been featured in international television programmes such as Sons of Anarchy, her show is set to be an impressive one.

CCUOCO's main AW14 inspiration comes from her childhood memory. Embracing the transient notions of beauty and darkness from her childhood experiences of biker country USA, her designs were strongly adorned with the use of leather to create a signature silhouette.

Speaking of her design philosophy, she says “Beauty is beauty. Taking the misleading idea of any form, that in no way can we be sure that it is there in mental or mind. Thus playing with shapes and theories. As a designer I enjoy the alternate reality.”
