ELLE Magazine caught up with Vauxhall Fashion Scout alumni, design duo Fyodor Golan at The V&A’s Fashion in Motion show to talk about their brand aesthetic, inspirations behind their recent Spring / Summer 2013 collection as well as what it’s like to have their work shown at the prestigious Victoria & Albert Museum.
A book titled “Blue Tattoo” serves as the inspiration behind the collection, the duo tell ELLE magazine about the true story of a young girl’s survival. Fyodor Golan prove to be rich in concept as well as in style talking about the spiritual elements of the film The Holy Mountain used as a reference for the collection’s traditional and organic feel.
Coming from fine art background, the team says “everything comes through art for us” describing the Fyodor Golan aesthetic which they take pride in focusing on purity of form and shape.
On the woman they design for, they mention women who are “emotionally strong and like to express themselves” using Marilyn Monroe as frequent image on their wall of inspiration.
Since debuting their A/W 11 collection at Vauxhall Fashion Scout, designers Fyodor Podgorny and Golan Frydman have gone on becoming Fashion Fringe winners gaining recognition for their attention to detail and spectacular collections.
