COLLECTION | Ashley Isham

This Autumn/Winter is going to be all about chunky knitwear, feathered fur and metallic leather according to Ashley Isham. Ashley returns to Fashion Scout with an astonishing new collection. The designer from Singapore sure knows how to put on a show by starting off with an oriental dance piece whilst guests were making their way to their seats.

The collection ensures you will be wrapped up this winter with multiple layers of wool and fur. The main colour palette used includes shades of navy, burgundy and dark purple; these colours came to life with the gold embellishment and the amazing headpieces that included long fringes over the models’ face. This added a sense of mysteriousness to the collection.

The overall shapes used in the collection were very fitted which celebrated a womans body in all of the right places; this was done with leather belts and draped fabric. The navy wool gave the collection a military look but turned fun and exciting with neon coloured pom poms and bells attached the models shoes.

Towards the end of the show we were given many night time looks which were classic, elegant and timeless. Theses pieces were beautiful as they included sequins and embellishment which caught the light as the models walked down the runway.

In conclusion I think the collection was really classic and fun with a hint of heritage. It was great to see how much Ashley can do due to how many different styled pieces we got to see in this great collection.

COLLECTION| Ashley Isham SS15

Ashley Isham, a designer recognised for his signature draping and strong tailoring, offered up a distinctive blend of high-octane glamour and contemporary style.

The SS15 collection was inspired by the legendary and exotic lady - Mata Hari who is half Indonesian and half Dutch. The concept was to create the insight from the Eastern sensibility with a Western point of view.

Trains, liquid jersey slits, and silk Moroccan dresses created fluidity and refinement on the catwalk. From the beginning of the show, the models immediately jewelled the romance with India gold embellishments with floor length gowns. On the second half of the show, he sparked the design with floral embellishments and lace garments and added a subtly stylish element - elegant with an eloquent finishing touch. The collection is delicately hand crafted and draped while presenting with a razor sharp tailoring that is soft yet sophisticated.

There was however a more contemporary twist with this season’s show. The collection was urban and celebrates its craftsmanship with clean, crisp and modern silhouettes. One of the highlights is the swimsuit pieces with floral print, colourful leopard pattern with sport-wear style. The extreme opulence of the couture silhouettes emphasised a woman’s body with ergonomic construction including a multitude of shapes.

These are Ashley Isham warriors fighting for a new dawn of beauty and diversity.

COLLECTION| Ashley Isham AW14

Ashley Isham is a designer that hasn’t failed to make an impression in previous seasons. Renowned for precise geometric tailoring, decadent fabrics and, of course, the signature crepe jersey, Isham is a designer that has become recognisable within the industry.

Singapore’s extravagant designer continuously brings forward a show that screams femininity and glamour. Last season was inspired by the 1967 French Drama Belle du Jour; directly translated as ‘beauty of the day’, and this AW14 we’ve been given a collection that is just as exquisite.

There was however a more contemporary twist with this season’s show. The dresses fully depicted extravagance and beauty. Although combined with lace and embroidered visors, celebrating Equastrian year of the Horse, the looks became more quirky and interesting. Other features synonymous to equestrian were tailored capes and strong shoulders.

Ashley quoted “Are flowers the winter’s choice? Is love’s bed always snow?” by John Clare as the lead concept for this season. Romanticism is pivotal to Isham’s aesthetic and this was brought forward through fluid trains, delicate embroidery, playful floral prints and fishtail skirts. Finer detailing was key whilst the palette was created by a penchant for more vibrant autumnal hues. The Runaway Bride touch at the end as Ashley ran down the catwalk with his bride was the cherry on top to depict his English countryside theme.

High-octane alluring glamour juxtaposed with contemporary chic created a stellar show that follows suit in Ashley’s beautiful track record.
