COLLECTION| Fam Irvoll FEB'13

Today's Fam Irvoll show saw an explosion of colour hit the catwalk this season. Inspired by TLC and the early 90’s, Fam’s Autumn/Winter collection was a showcase of Lichtenstein pop prints, and bombers in fuschia and electric blue.

Accessories were oversized backpacks printed with noughties' era acronyms ‘YOLO’ and ‘LOL’; platform canvas shoes with plastic lips, pompom bobble hats and large hoop earrings. Traditional catwalk etiquette was a no-go for Fam with the energy captured in the collection's colour and print mirrored with bopping models, dancing and even singing their way down the catwalk, with cholo-lined lips and tattooed brows. The concept was a distinctly urban update on the 90s, the lyrical update on TLC with Drake's 'YOLO' proof that Irvoll has planted the past firmly in the present.

BACKSTAGE| Fam Irvoll FEB'13

Backstage at Fam Irvoll excitement was high for the designers third season at Fashion Scout. We caught up with the designer herself as she prepared for the show. Despite the build up the atmosphere was tranquil, "I am super excited, I just feel like I should be doing more." Fam was overseeing the preparation in all aspects. "This season I am doing a bit more of an urban look, we are including all of those ridiculous words like 'YOLO' and 'LOL' there is a lot of humour in it".

Models were each given an individual interpretation of a 90s chola girl. From big blow-dries to tight braids, dark lips and drawn-on brows. The inspiration was a mix 90s street, TLC, Latina chola girls and contemporary slang, resulting in an explosive mix.

COLLECTION| Fam Irvoll S/S13

Playful illustrations of grandma's adorned jumpers, skirts and dresses; candy stripes, and block pastels were the main choice of primary palette for Fam Irvoll's Spring/ Summer offering. Chiffon and lace piqued the playfulness, whilst bringing the feminine element forward. 

The 50’s shone through this collection; Fam’s whimsical, childhood elements are still a firm inspiration in her designs. White sheer skirts, with cut-out shapes matched woolen jumpers- all printed with retro illustrations. The line work and attention to detail within the illustrations brought out the lightness of Fam’s knits.

Irvoll included blazers, and fitted pencil skirts, adding a level of sophistication to the collection, allowing the audience to enjoy her Spring/ Summer pieces. The highlight of Fam’s collection was the playfulness, and endless imagination encapsulated in each of her pieces. As well as grandma faces- poodles, bows, and hearts were all printed against contrasting stripes, and straight-cut trousers. Fam really produced a collection that struck everyone watching, captivating them with a vast array of colour, prints and embellishment. Adding to her "Grandma" theme, Fam appropriately chose complimenting accessories, consisting of fluffy heels, and flat slippers.

NEWS| Fam Irvoll Popular in the Press following Creeper Collaboration

Fam Irvoll is receiving lots of praise for the collaboration with original creeper label Underground Shoes. The shoes were first showcased at Vauxhall Fashion Scout's Freemason's Hall as part of Fam Irvoll's AW12 collection.
