INTERVIEW| Daisy Lowe

Fashion's finest turned up for Pinghe's debut season at Fashion Scout London on Friday 14th, presenting a new AW14 collection on Day One of the week. Amongst the brand's many admirers, Fashion Scout caught up with Daisy Lowe at the Pinghe AW14 catwalk show.

Are there any trends you’re loving this season?

What’s up with all the metallics? I’m so into it! And holographics. I’m also really loving tailored suits and smoking jackets.

Will we be seeing you at any more shows at Fashion Scout?

I don’t know – my schedule is looking really busy but I hope to be back here.

What do you think about Fashion Scout as a platform for emerging designers?

It’s just brilliant. Young talents need to be championed, and in such a grand setting too. It must feel so empowering for designers.

FRONT ROW| PINGHE with Poppy Delevingne, Mary Charteris and Laura Whitmore

Today Freemasons Hall has seen the debut London Fashion Week show of eponymous label PINGHE; and whilst this is only the second full collection for Ping’s designs, the label has already become highly covetable amongst A-list clientele.

This said, we spotted a most fashionable trio sat front row – fashion royalty, Poppy Delevigne, Mary Charteris, who will later be DJ’ing at the Fashion Scout after party; and MTV’s Laura Whitmore. Here’s what they had to say:

What do you think of the platform which Fashion Scout provides for emerging designers?

Laura: I was here last season for Heohwan? Heohwan Simulation, am I pronouncing it right? I think it’s a great platform and opportunity for up and coming designers, because obviously so many established designers get shown every season. So you get to see something new. I always think the real creativity is here because I think people are more likely to experiment… you see something you don’t normally see.

Poppy: I think here people have the chance to be more individual and more ‘out there’.

We agree! Are you able to see any more Fashion Scout shows this season?

Poppy: No I’m not actually which is a real shame.

Laura: Hopefully, last year I came wearing Heohwan Simulation, I still can’t say it. I used to say ‘I really like this designer’, ‘This designer has a great range of shows’… until I went backstage and I had to ask Heohwan how to say it!

And so we went on to discuss the correct pronunciation of PINGHE before the impressive show commenced.

DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT SS14| PINGHE

PINGHE is the fashion label created by Chinese designer Ping He. Showcasing at Fashion Scout for the first time this September, Ping is no stranger to success having won numerous acclaimed accolades across her career. Whilst studying at leading art and design university Suzhou, Ping won the Shanghai Fashion Week award for womenswear design as well as a SAGA design award. Following graduating her BA degree with a first, Ping came to London and completed a masters degree at Nottingham Trent University. Having perfected her highly innovative style, Ping became Head of Design at London based brand Aftershock where she continued to receive critical acclaim not to mention a string of awards including BFC's award for 'Best Rising Star Brand.

In April 2011, Ping He launched her ready-to-wear label PINGHE in London, with strong support from Harvey Nichols’ CEO Joseph Wan and British Fashion Council Chairman Harold Tillman. We are thrilled to have her SS14 collection showcase at Fashion Scout on Friday 13th September at 7pm.
