An alien-like model army of all black
everything and a pop of one painted white model graced the runway
this morning at Fashion Scout. Serbian designer Marko Mitanovski sure
knows how to make a collection stand out with previously dressing
stars such as Lady Gaga, Paloma Faith and Steve Strange.
It was obvious the models must have
been in hair and make up for a good few hours before the show, a lot
of them were painted completely black in order to go with the dark,
grungy and sexy collection. Marko was inspired by birds, nature and
sculpture which made massive collars, gigantic shoulder pads and
very, very big puffer sleeves the main looks for this collection.
Manipulated leather and croc fabrics
gave the pieces lots of texture and shape however a corset element
was added to this in order to make the pieces look fitting, sexy and
more feminine. We were also given previews The looks were styled with
fish net tights and plain black pointed shoes so all of the attention
was on the well-detailed garments. The faces of the models were
either hidden through the use of black paint or beaded headpieces,
his gave the collection a creepy feel about it as they had no
identity and were these characters created by Marko instead.
The slow music playing in the
background and the models creeping down the runway created a great
lot of suspense leaving the audience interested and engaged
throughout the whole show. The finale featured a fast pace collection
of models strutting to a strings version of Michael Jacksons ‘Smooth
Criminal’ which gave us an amazing overview of the detail and work
that must have gone into all of these works of art.
