NEWS| Eudon Choi collaborates with River Island

Fashion Scout Alumni Eudon Choi takes on new things in a collaboration with River Island, creating a 16 piece collection to hit stores in September. The Korean designer, who has previously been awarded the Fashion Scout Merit Award, now showcases his collections on schedule at Somerset House. Originally a menswear designer, Choi went on to study womenswear at the Royal College of Art where his unique take on feminine structure can be seen in each collection. Launched in 2009 the Eudon Choi brand has gone from strength to strength being recognised for the designer’s use of rich cultural references as well as striking yet minimal shapes.

The River Island collection takes inspiration from the 1991 Peter Lindbergh photo series “Wild at Heart” where we see Choi’s interpretation in soft leathers and biker styled detailing. The River Island Design Forum initiative has seen collections from Fashion Scout’s T.Lipop and Georgia Hardinge giving talented designers the opportunity to take on a new audience.

Ranging from £30 to £250 the collaborative collection is set to be a hit, already garnering fans eager to see Eudon Choi’s vision of the high street.

Blog Editor Cass Gowing visited the Portico Rooms at Somerset House to catch up with Fashion Scout alumnus and former Merit Award Winner Eudon Choi's A/W13 collection. Entitled, 'Varykino' the Doctor Zhivago references were undeniable but refreshed and revamped through vibrant hues, printed head scarves and floral headpieces. 




Colour blocking littered oversized lapelled jackets whilst full skirts with baroque printing contrasted further, due to harsher leather accents. Pom poms adorning shoes and head pieces added a playfulness to the line yet the mood was anything but light. Hauntingly exquisite, the live music and showspace only heightened the effect of his collection.

NEWS| Math Collective and Eudon Choi in Grazia’s Top 7 Designers to Watch

Grazia kick the New Year off in style with their Top 7 Designers to Watch For in 2013, featuring Fashion Scout’s Math Collective and alumni Eudon Choi. Sharing our talent for spotting great young designers, the two make the list selected for their unique vision putting them under the publication’s fashion radar.

Starting as a menswear designer, Korean born Eudon Choi’s graduated from RCA and has since gone on winning Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s Merit Award in 2010 and made an impact winning the BFC Elle Talent Launch Pad. His unique taste for precision and quaint but bold detailing has gained fans at Dover Street Market who picked up his graduate collection as well as celebrity fans in the likes of Sienna Miller and Jade Jagger.  It was his impeccable SS13 collection however that sets him apart and lands him in Grazia’s Top 7 and“really pushed our style buttons”.

Originally studying graphic design Shahzad Mohayudin of Math Collective shows he hasn’t let go of his design roots with an eye for creating elegant looks from geometric shapes. With a strong debut at Vauxhall Fashion Scout, Math has had his line picked up by online retail favourites My-Wardrobe and has audiences buzzing with praise for his feminine and street  savvy style. “Definitely one to watch for 2013” says Grazia; We see big things coming for Math Collective.

NEWS Eudon Choi has been awarded the Samsung Fashion and Design Fund

We're please to announce that Eudon Choi has been awarded the Samsung Fashion and Design Fund for the second year in a row. Launched with the aim to discover and sponsor young Korean designers around the world, the award makes design dreams a reality. Choi graduated with an MA in Womenswear from the Royal College of Art and launched his label in 2009. Since then, he's not only been our One to Watch and received our Merit Award in 2010 but presented his SS12 collection in honour of the Vogue Fashion Fund at Milan Fashion Week and was awarded the Lycra Style Emerging Talent Award. A designer with experience, talent and an impressive number of accolades under his belt has earnt Eudon Choi an international following, making him one of the most exciting upcoming designers of our time.

VAUXHALL FASHION SCOUT ALUMNI | Eudon Choi S/S13

Receiving such a positive response following his catwalk display at London Fashion Week, the VFS alumni Eudon Choi's S/S13 collection seemed to go down a solid success. The Korean born, London-based Royal College of Arts MA womenswear graduate has come a long way since becoming our Merit Award Winner in 2010.

Gracing the catwalk with a modern, wearable and innovative collection, his latest pieces consisted of structured shirts, soft looking textures and interesting headwear. Positive reviews have flown in from the likes of Vogue UK and Vogue Italia, Elle have called it their “stand-out favourite from day one of London Fashion Week”, and Selfridge's have recently taken in his A/W12 collection. With what looks like a bright and exciting future ahead of the designer, it's safe to say Choi has caught the eye of the fashion world.

NEWS| VFS alumni Eudon Choi joins Selfridges

As a pioneer for new and emerging design talent, we're always ecstatic when our Vauxhall Fashion Scout alumni hit new highs and last week, it was announced that former Merit Award winner, Eudon Choi's AW12 collection is now stocked in luxury fashion store Selfridges. 

The RCA graduate, who began his career in Korea as a menswear designer, was scouted by the VFS selection panel three years ago – shortly after his eponymous womenswear label was created. As recipient of Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s Ones to Watch accolade in 2010, followed by the Merit Award prize for his SS11 collection, we made sure that Choi was a name to know.

Eudon’s career has been growing strength by strength since being catapulted by VFS, he has showcased his SS12 collection at Milan Fashion Week in honour of The Vogue Fashion Fund whilst he has also been awarded with the Samsung Fashion and Design Fund and the LYCRA® Style Emerging Talent Award at the WGSN Global Fashion Awards in New York. It seems being stocked in Selfridges is just the next step in his progression as a womenswear label to reckon with.

We tweeted our congratulations to Eudon as soon as we heard the news and he replied, “thank you. This day would not have been possible without the amazing platform you provided”.

NEWS| Exclusive Insight - Vauxhall Fashion Scout S/S13 Selection Panel

The Vauxhall Fashion Scout Selection Panel for London Fashion Week S/S13 has come and gone, but the excitement is still with us a week on...

Beach Blanket Babylon in Shoreditch housed over 40 designers, 14 industry experts and hundreds of beautiful garments last Tuesday, which saw the seasonal Vauxhall Fashion Scout Selection Panel hand-pick the designers that will be joining us at the Freemason's Hall for September's London Fashion Week and the Fashion Scout Showroom in Paris.

Amongst the selected designers, the Merit Award Winner & One's To Watch Designers were selected- the awards that highlight the leading emerging talent at Vauxhall Fashion Scout. These highly esteemed awards have gone to truly talented designers in the past, helping them launch their careers into the industry. Previous Merit Award Winners have included:

Yesterday saw the S/S13 Vauxhall Fashion Scout Selection Panel take place at our venue partner, Beach Blanket Babylon in Shoreditch. 

With nearly 200 designer applicants, the "home of new talent" has proven itself as an established and celebrated platform for supporting emerging design talent in the industry, and S/S13 looks to be one of the best ever for Vauxhall Fashion Scout. 

Key industry experts came together to hand select the future designers for Vauxhall Fashion Scout S/S13 at both London & Paris Fashion Week, including the coveted Merit Award and prestigious One's To Watch showcase, that is held as a highlight every season.

Designers are considered for Catwalk, Presentation and Exhibition places and with that  gain access to Vauxhall Fashion Scout's renown Mentoring programme.  

The esteemed Selection Panel for S/S13 included some of the industries most respected and talented individuals, each bringing their own unique perspective and opinion of the shortlisted collections. On the Vauxhall Fashion Scout Selection Panel this season were:
