EXHIBITION| Anne Sofie Madsen

Showing later today as part of Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s ‘OnesToWatch’ show, Anne Sofie Madsen is swiftly becoming one of the most exciting designers of the minute.  The Exhibition Space at Freemason’s hall currently houses a small, delicious taster of her current collection, aswell as pieces from last season, SS12.
Her A/W12 collection, takes inspiration from the Inuit Goddess of the underworld, Sedna, Anne Sofie Madsen has created an intricate juxtaposition between dark and light in her collection.  Combining structural lines and hand-drawn prints, with chunky knits and silky leathers; the pieces are a perfect embodiment of the gothic romanticism of Victorian novels.  This contributes another prevalent theme in Anne Sofie’s collection; the shape and contour of each stunning creation being derived from the study of Victorian menswear, which adds a fierce androgyny to the collection as a whole.
Despite the monochromatic palette, each garment is animated by an amalgamation of textures, with everything from metallic chaining to furniture fabric included within the showcase.
With the online outlet being launched on March 1st, Anne Sofie Madsen is indisputably one-to-watch.
