COLLECTION| Hema Kaul SS15

Hema Kaul returns to Fashion Scout for a third season to present her SS15 collection.

A passionate traveller, Kaul explores exotic locations to source fabrics, vintage pieces and garner inspiration which she relays in her elegant and highly feminised designs.

This evening we witnessed this in Kaul's work. Full of truly effeminate and serene characteristics, it revisited the opulent and glamour decades in previous collections. For SS15 we see youthfulness and innocence in Kaul's designs.

With a collection entitled 'La vie en rose- Life is pink', flower appliqué, made up of 3D embellishments and diamanté detailing, is prevalent throughout most of the garments.

Floral design encircles longer dresses in typical shades of pink and white, while bright pops of shimmering aqua and lilac are introduced in cocktail dresses with cut-out detailing to inject sexiness into the collection.

Shape and fabrics cuts are used alongside nipped in waists and full skirts to accentuate the feminine silhouette and we see a contrast this evening with long length dresses pitted against tight short hemlines.

Ribbed and wavy hems combine to make Kaul's SS15 display less elegant and more flirty and fun. French tulle, organza and satin are Kaul's included fabrics and lace sleeves add daintiness while the showcase overall embodies vivid vs understated.
