COLLECTION| Lako Bukia AW12

Futuristic, dramatic yet accessible and wearable, Lako Bukia’s uber modern collection oozed spacey sex appeal, but with a definite fun and flirty twist.  Sweet, swingy, super short skater skirts in silver lurex and charcoal toned mesh added movement and lightness to smooth, leather bodices, whilst slick silver pencil skirts and long, billowing evening gowns were effortlessly glamorous.  Cute little pewter dresses with deep V necks and sharp, geometric mesh panelling screamed December party season, whilst matt, coal-black suede in the shape of minis, loose cut tees and cigarette cut trousers looked expensive and stylish.
Dense, black, brushed wool coats worked well against the bright metallics, toning down the high shine look and giving texture and depth, as did Bukia’s silver, slashed waistcoats.  Clever tailoring and careful pin tucking made super skinny leather trousers look exquisite and broken up, geometric shapes in black and mushroom added drama and power to the simple colour palette.  The hero piece of the show was a beautiful sheer evening gown, with a full, black, shimmering skirt and shattered, mirrored shards bursting out from shoulder to hip.  Flickering and glimmering under white lights, the intricate bodice was a true showstopper, and finished off Bukia’s confident, daring yet very wearable collection perfectly.
