Designer Shahzad Mohayudin, debuted his first London Inspired solo show this evening at Vauxhall Fashion Scout.
Math concentrates on merging luxury
materials such as washed silks, leathers and suedes and creating distinct
modern silhouettes. The label is a definition of ‘Attainable Luxury’ and the
purpose, of garments with an understated elegance and appealing to all ages. It
is evident that Mohayudin was a graphic turned fashion designer through the use
of his strong structural lines within the clothing separating fabrics, colours
and textures. The aesthetics of the collections are noticeably influenced by
London where they are formed and developed. Indications of streamlined, sportswear
influences are present through polo shirt style sleeves, jackets and zips. Even
some of the footwear featured was, aerodynamic trainers and the hair tied back
off the face with healthy glowing skin as if just having endured a work out.
New
and pioneering fabrics are visible, abundant and effective, showing that Math
has worked closely with traditional mills to get the desired effect. Tweed and patterned fabrics are merged with
understated greys, blacks as well as pops of colour, such as panelled orange
trouser legs and red and blue block panes within tops and skirts. To sum up the collection it is tailoring,
mixed with relaxed silks and functional without compromising on it’s design
edge.
