NEWS| Fashion Scout Select New Season Designers for AW13/14

It's that time of year again...!

On Wednesday 28th November the Selection Panel for Fashion Scout AW13/14 converged at Beach Blanket Babylon to select the future design talent for the new season. The panel, amongst which included; Hilary Alexander, Vogue.com's Fashion Features Editor Jessica Bumpus, Hannah Emslie of Selfridges, stylist Rebekah Roy, Martyn Roberts and Charlotte Gunstone from Fashion Scout, were treated to an exceptional selection of talent and the task of deciding the winner of the inaugural Merit Award and Ones to Watch.

Fashion Scout has forged a reputation for being step ahead of the design talent curve, reconising the best new emerging designers. What makes Fashion Scout so special is, as well as providing an amazing platform for new talent. They also mentor and develop their designers to ensure their careers are steered towards success and not only a moment in the spotlight. It's this approach that is has helped launch some of the most exciting new designers in London." Hannah Emslie, Selfridges.
The internationally acclaimed Merit Award is the ultimate launch pad for its recipients, becoming the most hotly anticipated event in the London Fashion Week off-schedule calendar. Now in its ninth season, the award has gone on to launch some of our most recognised design names, amongst which include David Koma, Eudon Choi, Hermione De Paula, Leutton Postle and Phoebe English.

The standard of Ones To Watch is notoriously high and this years selection are no exception; "It is great to see the diversity and the different paths (all of the designers) follow. It's also nice to see how talent from previous years has developed." Jessica Bumpus, Vogue.com

The coming season's Merit Award and Ones to Watch designers are still under wraps for now but the breaking news will be coming soon!

NEWS| Joe Turvey on Fashion East's Menswear Installation A/W 13/14

It's a delight to hear that former Men's OTW designer Joseph Turvey has been selected to be a part of Fashion East's AW13 menswear installation. Known for their display of the most impressive upcoming talent, Fashion East will bring together the work of London's best menswear designers and put them under one roof in January next year.

Turvey graduated from the London College of Fashion with a BA in Womenswear Fashion Design before studying an MA in Fashion Design Technology, where he applied his illustrative skills, love of tradition and unconventional texture to menswear. "The Ones to Watch show was such an amazing experience for me," Turvey commented on being selected. "It was the starting point of my career and I am truly grateful to the Vauxhall Fashion Scout's team for their ongoing support."

As always, we tried to get the insider scoop on Joe’s AW13/14 collection and he chatted to us exclusively:
"For AW13 I am collaborating with a very well established brand... and I am super excited to see the finished products. I have moved a lot of my production to Europe and this has opened a lot of doors to new techniques and fabrications. I really can’t wait to be a part of the Fashion East installation... the location is amazing and the other designers are very talented and I’m looking forward to being a part of it."

The conversation, in which the designer discusses her experience with VFS, her SS13 collection, influences and signature style, is a real insight into her feelings and thoughts. NEWS| Nova Chiu, Label of the Day in DASH Magazine

Bon Voyage is the theme so elegantly reflected in Nova Chiu Spring / Summer 13 collection featured as DASH magazine’s Label of the Day. Talking about the design duo’s “timeless yet versatile” statement pieces the magazine emphasises the journey both metaphorically and aesthetically shown in the warped yet beautiful landscapes that serve as prints for this beautiful collection. “Minimalistic tones merge with structured shapes”, the label’s concepts show passion and dedication that has seen their fan base grow from their first show at Vauxhall Fashion Scout.
