Bernard Chandran interviewed for Idol Magazine

A resounding favourite of the Vauxhall Fashion Scout team, Malaysian designer Bernard Chandran met with Idol Magazine - a creative outlet for innovation across fashion, music and art - to provide an insight into his increasingly busy schedule.

With his mind set on design from a young age, Chandran has developed a meticulous aesthetic which demonstrates his clear respect for the women that he dresses. Despite having worked with such prominent figures in popular culture- from Lady Gaga to Little Boots, Chandran’s philosophy of self-belief and inner-confidence has kept his feet firmly on the ground.

Subtle hints to expand his label further than he already has permeate throughout the interview; although it seems Chandran isn’t going to divulge too much on that score; simply dubbing it a case of “natural progression”.

Keep an eye on this space for more fresh news on the designer himself, and be sure to check out the full interview here...

Vauxhall Fashion Scout presents International Press & Buyers Reception in association with Fashion Monitor

We are thrilled to announce that on Sunday 19th of February from 10am to 1pm, VFS will be hosting our International Media & Buyers Reception in partnership with Fashion Monitor.

This is the third time that VFS and Fashion Monitor have worked in partnership to hold the International Reception as previous years have been met with a fantastic response.

This great opportunity- open via invitation, is for international and national press, media and VIP's to meet buyers in a tea party style breakfast reception. Having proved itself as the ultimate occasion for networking with up-and-comers of the fashion industry, in attendance shall be a range of designers who are exhibiting at the venue as well as the crème de le crème of fashion media.

Having been firmly established within the fashion sector since 1989 and heavily relied upon by professionals within the industry, Fashion Monitor is the fashion bible for providing contacts, news and events within the fashion industry.

At last year's fabulous event Fashion Monitor Editor at Large Ariane Buteux commented: “As Fashion Monitor, it is great to partner up with Fashion Scout and get our names out there as we both believe strongly in the platform [of promoting emerging designers.]”.

The International Press & Buyers Reception will take place in the Exhibition Centre at Freemasons’ Hall; providing a relaxed platform for global press, buyers and designers to meet and network with industry peers. Definitely a must-go-to event of London Fashion Week 2012.

Designer Spotlight: A La Disposition

Design duo Daniel & Linda Kinne are Vauxhall Fashion Scout veterans- having shown with us twice before their forthcoming Autumn/ Winter ’12 collection, and we are so excited to have them back!

Since meeting at the acclaimed art school, Parson’s School of Design, the [now] husband and wife team went on to found label ‘A la Disposition’ in the Autumn of 2005.

Graduating with a degree in Fashion Design in the year 2000, the pair pursued the study of bespoke corsetry, a prominent feature in their garments and contributing a great deal towards the craftmanship we see from the duo today.

This past inspiration transcends such a manifestation of skill, and provides the thread for the label’s philosophy of manipulating pattern, cut and colour to serve as a form of reactionary modernity. To see this marriage of experiment and tradition first-hand, be sure to attend ‘A la Disposition’s’ third collection with the Vauxhall Fashion Scout team at Freemasons Hall on Friday 17th at 16.00.

Schedule updates: @prophetik AW12/13 collection @Fashionscout

Sustainable fashion and lifestyle label Prophetik, will launch their AW12/13 collection at Vauxhall Fashion Scout this up and coming Fashion Week.  A press favorite and a prominent voice in the ethical fashion arena.

The nine-year-old, all-sustainable fashion lifestyle brand designed by, Jeff Garner, was born and is headquartered in America’s Deep South - Leiper’s Fork, Tennessee.  Jeff received personal mentorships from Calvin Klein and J Lindeberg, then went on to co-design with Convoy, a sustainable label out of Orange County, California before launching Prophetik.

Prophetik’s new autumn/winter collection is influenced by Princess Grace, who was courted by the noble, dandy gentleman. It promised to immerse fans of the brand into a fusion of delight and awe. Striking out against the conformist ideals of saturated, insipid colours, the collection transpires the naked eye to new worlds, with beautiful, luminous plant and earth based dyes.

With an equestrian thread always running through Prophetik’s aesthetic, the princess and her stable boy set the stage. Designer, Jeff Garner is once again bringing romance to the forefront of his sustainable fashion line, challenging philosophies with the intention of dissolving lies that create and perpetuate suffering.

Reworked antique quilts again become focal points of the range. Prophetik’s finale dress heads straight to the world renowned Smithsonian museum post-show and is crafted from peach silk, one of his grandmother Lola’s old quilts, a vintage pocket watch, and black, naturally shed, ostrich feathers.

A Victorian sensibility always appears on the Prophetik catwalk and high-collars, floor sweeping hemlines and an overall immense lean toward prudish dress will be present.

Designed for the dapper man and modern woman with a romantic Renaissance flare, Prophetik is currently stocked in over 60 high-end boutiques in America, Japan, Switzerland, France and the United Kingdom. Worn regularly by the likes of Livia Firth and Suzy Amis Cameron, Prophetik stands for high ethical fashion, and Jeff Garner is the go-to guy for style. Other fans of the label include Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Kings of Leon, and the Jonas Brothers.

Prophetik will show at Vauxhall Fashion Scout

Sunday 19th at  10:30.
