Vauxhall Fashion Scout designers Shao Yen and Kirsty Ward have their designs featured in Vogue China’s Futuristic themed editorial shot and styled by Jiro Hsu.
The Taiwanese born designer’s use of gold and metallic hues in his Spring / Summer 2013 collection is picked up on for its hint to the editorial’s theme. Known for her panelling and intricate use of materials Kirsty Ward’s designs fit perfectly with the fashion story’s aesthetic.
Former Ones To Watch winner Shao Yen showcased his Spring / Summer 2013 collection exclusively at Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s Paris Showrooms where bright colours and interesting shapes brought attention to his work. Also showcased exclusively at Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s Paris Showrooms, Kirsty Ward’s bold cuts and intricate panelling has had this designer a permanent favourite with audiences.
With a focus on fluidity, this Futuristic fashion editorial goes along with the mix, bringing together high street styles with new and established designers. Shao Yen’s gold transparent skirt is paired with Kirsty Ward’s open sided white top for a look that is fresh and energetic.
You may remember VFS's coverage of London's inaugural Men's Collections back in Spring, where we covered former 'One to Watch' and alum, Joseph's Turvey's Spring/ Summer '13 collection.
Fast-forward to now, and fashion and arts mag, Notion have looked back on the showcase for their current issue, picking Turvey as a "standout from a younger wave of designers", making him truly- in our words- 'One to Watch'.
The London College of Fashion MA grad will now take to Lulu Kennedy's Fashion East, where he'll no doubt add to his growing fan-base- and you can check out what he has to say about the forthcoming LC:M installation here.
Graduate Showcase designer, Maia Bergman has recently added to her already extensive list of accolades- Harper's Bazaar featuring her work on their September cover, featured in the Chinese edition of Vogue, and now this, winning Vogue Italia's Young Vision design award.
In partnership with online design community Muuse Fashion, Vogue Italia selected 10 finalists out of an original 300 to be voted by the public as winner of the 2012 Young Vision award. Out of the final 10, Central Saint Martins graduate, and VFS alum Maia Bergman was voted winner of the Community's Choice Award- an award Fashion Editor Sara Maino explains is voted for by the "international" online community, not just those reading Vogue Italia in its namesake country.
More reason for VFS to be excited about the future of this young talent, and expect greater things for her yet.
