PARIS SHOWROOMS| Kirsty Ward AW14

Kirsty Ward presents a bold and sculptured aesthetic in her designs. Named ‘One to Watch’ by Fashion Scout in AW11, the jewellery designer is known for her striking statement pieces so it is no surprise that embellished jewellery and body garments feature prominently in her collections. Combining awe inspiring, innovative jewellery designs with delicate and refined silhouettes, Ward provides a beautiful juxtaposition of clean, understated lines with bold accessories. An exploration of masculine and feminine aesthetics along with the incorporation of contemporary jewellery create innovative designs with a playful nature.

Ward honed her craft at Central St. Martins College of Art and Design where she studied for an MA in Womenswear. Soon after graduation, Ward was jetted over to Italy to design for Alberta Ferretti. She has gone on to attract attention from the fashion elite, collaborating with designer David Longshaw to create a jewellery line for his AW10 catwalk collection.

Having previously shown her SS14 collection at Fashion Scouts’ Paris showrooms, Ward will be making a return to Paris this season to showcase her AW14 collection where we can expect to see a celebration of vibrantly exaggerated accessories and textured garments toughened up with masculine features.

NEWS| Kirsty Ward collaborates with Williams Handmade

London- based, British born designer Kirsty Ward and fellow British designer, Sarah Williams of Williams Handmade has collaborated for a most inventive, AW13 collection.

Whilst Kirsty’s brand aesthetic celebrates unconventional structures, bold cuts, defined form and the most powerful of embellishments; Williams Handmade is renowned for it’s utilisation of historic regional craftsmanship, which celebrates traditional British heritage while illustrating the need for a greater appreciation of cultural diversity and preservation of local and regional differences – an element personified through innovative, original designs.

PARIS PREVIEW| Paris Showroom Designer Kirsty Ward

Fresh from showcasing in Milan with Vogue Italia Talents corner showcase, former Ones to Watch star Kirsty Ward will be taking part in Fashion Scout's Paris Showroom. We're pleased to present Kirsty's A/W13 collection images as well as a quick catch up with the designer herself.

What you are most looking forward to about Fashion Scout Paris?
I'm currently in Milan showing my A/W13 collection with the Vogue Italia Talents corner, I've shown it to Anna WintoUr, Suzy Menkes and Franca Sozzani amongst others, which has been great for press. But I'm now looking forward to Paris to sort the sales out.

What you think are the advantages of showcasing your designs in Paris?
More buyers, London is great for press but Paris is where the buyers are. The quality of the buyers at fashion scout are great too with a lot of international stores visiting.

What are the main inspirations of your latest collection?
The garments are inspired by a subtle take on ice hockey uniforms mixed with unexpected fabric and big jewellery obviously. We've also done a handbag collaboration this season with Williams handmade which is really exciting.

NEWS| Kirsty Ward featured in Vogue Italia 'Talents' piece

Having been named the Rising Star of 2011 by Elle and a Designer to Watch by Vogue, it's no wonder our previous One to Watch Kirsty Ward is a designer who's become well accustomed to press attention. Having just exhibited her S/S13 collection in our Paris showrooms, it's something that's sure to continue. Most recently, it's been Glass magazine, Crack magazine and Vogue Italia that she's caught the eye of.

In 'A moment with Kirsty Ward', Glass talked to the Central Saint Martin's graduate about her inspirations, VFS and the future. “Inspiration can come from anywhere,” she says during the interview. “I especially love the elderly... I also watch a lot of sci-fi and that always creeps in.”

Crack magazine have also recently featured her work. One of Ward's AW12 necklaces has appeared in an editorial of the monthly art and music magazine's latest issue and perfectly presents the structured aesthetic the designer has become known for.

If that wasn't enough, Vogue Italia have also featured Ward's AW12 collection in their talent section. With a biography and a display of her powerfully innovative and embellished designs, it's safe to say Kirsty Ward is certainly making a name for herself.

POSTCARD FROM PARIS| Kirsty Ward

Celebrated for her bold cuts, defined structures and powerful embellishments, Ones To Watch alumni, Kirsty Ward, showcases her SS13 collection exclusively with Vauxhall Fashion Scout in Paris.

Staying true to her signature aesthetic and love of tea ladies, Kirsty has evolved last season's tabards and apron fronts with a deconstruction of form. Experimenting with fabrics and contrasting textures, whilst keeping minimal silhouettes, Kirsty has emphasised garment structure.

A simple yet striking palette of grey, white and black creates a monochrome background for her distinguished statement jewellery, introducing a rainbow spectrum for Spring. Her intrinsic splash of colour has already become a talking point and we catch up with the young designer in Paris...

What has the initial response been to your S/S13 collection?

It has been great- I'm just at PFW this season but with press days etc. I am finding this is all I need for good exposure to buyers and press.

Is there a favourite piece/ look from the collection that you feel encapsulates your aesthetic?

It generally is the biggest piece of jewellery each season - this season it is a gold and red woven necklace. there is also a layered tabard dress this is a key piece to the collection.

What is the importance of showcasing your collection in Paris?

Its the end of fashion season, so this means there is a good selection of buyers viewing my collection.

As a platform, what support has VFS provided you with this season that you are most grateful for?

Everything from advice to help press support. The mentoring sessions are great help too.

What will you be doing in Paris outside of the VFS showroom- making the most of the surrounding city, or taking much deserved respite from the pace of recent weeks?

Drinking wine and site seeing.

Kirsty Ward's S/S13 collection will be available to view in the Vauxhall Fashion Scout Paris Showroom untill 2nd October 2012.

NEWS| Susie Bubble's feature on Kirsty Ward

One of our favourite fashion bloggers seems to have a bit of a penchant for Ms Kirsty Ward.... Susie Bubble has previously featured Vauxhall Fashion Scout designer Kirsty Ward's necklace in an outfit post but this week she has dedicated an entire feature to her designs.

We don't want to spoil it for you... so go straight ahead to Susie Bubble's blog to read the beautiful feature for yourself.

"Kirsty Ward has made quite the knack out of combining jewellery and clothing so that one piece jumps seamlessly from one another, mirroring structure and palette and ensuring that both tell a somewhat similar tale.  Her metal spring jewellery has been something of a trademark for Ward and it has served her well with creating dynamic necklaces and bracelets, which quite literally make me think of all the best "!!boing!!" onomatopoeic noises that one can imagine. NEWS| Kirsty Ward wows with further coverage in the press

It was only a few weeks ago that we showcased on the blog a ton of Kirsty Ward press, from both print magazines and online publications, which led to us to chat to the designer regarding such coverage. Over the last couple of weeks, Kirsty Ward clothing has been featured further, this time in a range of breathtaking, yet contrastive editorials. The ones selected above, from Fatice, 1883 magazine and REVS, portray pieces from Kirsty Ward's collections, mostly AW12.

In addition, a Kirsty Ward AW12 necklace was deemed an AnOther magazine 'love' for the 'BIG statement' it makes. Never a truer word spoken.
