Backstage: Morning of Day 2

Today we decided to go backstage and hear more about the inspiration behind not only the designers creations but the Hair and Make Up Artists too.

Sabinna - SS16 “Home is where you’re not”

Head MUA for the Sabina show; Kelly talked about how the feminine collection and how she reflected this in the make up look. “The collection is very pretty, very feminine, and there are lots of dresses and flowers. So we are going for create a very beautiful girly look for the show. Using ginger blush to create rosy cheeks, and Super Volume mascara in blue to give them big bright eyes.”

Rohmir - SS16 “Cherry Blossom Dream”

We managed to quickly talk to designer Olga Roh and hear about her ‘Cherry Blossom Dream’. Her collection uses colours, “Orange, golden yellow, and blues, purples.” She incorporated items such as Gymboree jackets and obi belts synching waists on sleek evening dresses.

Judy Wu – SS16 “Feminine Strength”

This is Judy’s second season with fashion scout. She told our digital team of her use of “Jade greens, corals, whites, and black accents. Whilst imagining rock like planet surfaces for her print inspiration.” The make up team looked to mirror this futuristic influence with the use of “body shops white matte ‘Kajar’ eye pencil in the lower lash line and illuminating highlighter all of the face.”

ROHMIR | Collection

An old song started to play and, one after another, “the dolls” made their way out on the runway. Classic and elegant hair together with thick, long eyelashes reproduced the timeless beauty of dolls perfectly.

Fluffy silver dresses mixed with bright pink tones walked out first, followed by black and red floor-length gowns and accompanied with glamour jewelries, flower-printed fabrics and fury accessories. The use of quality French tweed and lace, which earned it the designation of “elegant, glamourous and timeless French fashion”, gave the feeling of pure lines and a sensual and vintage look.

Obsession, affection, temptation...these are the feelings we have when we think about dolls and Olga succeeded bringing them into life.

The show closed with a kind of “old cartoons” song that evocates the little child silently residing inside of us and made the whole atmosphere absolutely perfect.

Rohmir joins FashionScoutAW15!

Fashion Scout are so excited to announce Rohmir for our AW15 catwalk season!

After an established modelling career and a Masters in Fashion Design from London's Instituto Marangoni Rohmir jet-set founder Olga Roh set up her label in 2007, and has been a staple of Cosmopolitan glamour ever since.

In addition to stores in four countries; London, Berlin, Zurich and Hong Kong Roh has been honoured by Bern University in Switzerland and holds a PhD amongst her extensive portfolio.

Promising sophistication and luxury, we can't wait to see Rohmir's AW15 collection! February 20^th – 24^th, The Freemasons Hall, Covent Garden.

COLLECTION| Rohmir SS15

Rohmir’s SS15 collection hit the Fashion Scout runway in spectacular style on Day One as designer Olga Roh showcased her luxuriously feminine take on Scottish style. Staying true to her signature style of pleats and clean silhouettes, Roh’s collection ‘A Scottish Journey' encapsulates a feeling of tradition and femininity. 

Captivating, glamorous dresses are constructed in gold and orange tweeds and tartan takes centre stage in a collection which truly exudes elegance and an air of nonchalance. Stunning silk blouses contrast with heavy tweeds as traditional fabrics collide all in keeping with Rohmir’s signature style. Vibrant jewel tones in pink and blue provide a contrast to Roh’s otherwise neutral colour palette, whilst bow detailing and sequinned fringe dresses add elements of glamour and frivolity to this collections timeless luxury. 

Silhouettes are sleek yet feature voluminous draping, folds and pleats, all resemblant of the Scottish sash. Belts feature heavily throughout 'A Scottish Journey' with them being replicated in a graphic print across garments and layered and printed chiffon, ruffles and ruching bringing a much expected opulent aesthetic to Roh's collection.

BACKSTAGE| Rohmir SS15

Rohmir, label of luxury and glamour, turned to our neighbour Scotland for inspiration this season, using blue and white metallic shades and Celtic knot hairstyles to finish off her upcoming collection.

Richard Mannah of Toni&Guy talked us through the hair look for Rohmir SS15, which nodded towards a Scottish Celtic knot. Inspired by movies like Brave and Braveheart, Mannah wanted to create something very simple, incorporating the Celtic knot through the back of the hair. Dry shampoo and Label.m Volume Mousse gave hair a drier natural texture, to ensure wasn’t too polished, perfect and ‘weddingy’. Mannah praises the mouldable quality of hair, giving hairstylists the chance to shape it without it being too slippery and clean.

Olga Roh, who founded the label in 2007, worked with Toni&Guy to come up with the look, as Mannah explains; ‘she had an idea of the knot, so I played around with different ideas like where we would put the knot. We’re going to try and use all the models’ own hair, and keep things simple. We don’t want it to be too busy, because the knot speaks for itself and that’s the focal point of the whole look’. 

Finished with hair and shine spray, the look was kept imperfect to keep the style young and modern, not bridal. Matched with the metallic blue and white make-up look, complete with satin rather than the dewy skin of previous seasons, it perfectly represented the rustic tranquillity of Roh’s recently purchased Scottish castle getaway.

SS15 PREVIEW| Rohmir

Known for her traditional combination of both academia and fashion, Olga Roh joins Fashion Scout once again this season to reveal Rohmir's SS15 collection. Having established a status as a luxury ready to-wear designer she continues to speak passionately about her designs, delving into her inspirations and goals for this season. Last year's collection flourished in mottled prints, cowl drapes and heavy embellishments, whilst this year Rohmir is set to inject a touch of Scottish aesthetic in keeping with her signature pleats and sleek silhouettes. 

Fashion Scout: What is the most appealing aspect of the industry? 

Rohmir: The possibility to express a vision in a real life and with real people. The inborn right to be creative.

FS: Where does the primary inspiration come from for your collections?

R: We are inspired from everything and literally nothing: visuals, feelings, books, places, love for cultures, souvenirs from travels - this is what inspires creative minds as they can't live without realisation of their dreams. My recent collection is inspired by Scotland. A place in which I discovered just a year ago, where we bought a beautiful refugium for the family. We travelled a lot through the country and met people, we saw the way in which they wore their clothes.

FS: What is the main focus for this year's SS15 collection?

R: This Scottish inspired  collection would be not possible without tartan in some form... So I created my own family tartan- this will be seen on some dresses in the collection. Typical Rohmir cuts used with the Scottish fabrics. Tradition faces the fashion mirror.

FS: Will we see any elements from previous collections this season?

R: I like to work with tweeds and with this collection we really have to work with tweeds! The shapes of the dresses are still sleek Italian elegance. We will also see godets, silk wraps, signature Rohmir-pleats and some vibrant colours...

FS: What are the main fabrics used in this year's collection? 

R: Silk and tweed - we are in the summer season, so we'll forget the cashmere for a while!

FS: Can you describe your overall aesthetic in three words? 

R: Nonchalance, elegance, confidence

FS: What does it mean to you to be a part of Fashion Scout? 

R: It's an excellent professional platform for designers.

FS: What does the future hold for Rohmir? 

R: An expansion within the market.
