David Koma
For last seasons’ Merit award winner David Koma the heat was on to see if AW10 could match his last killer collection, which saw him rocket into the fashion stratosphere. After a S/S collection dominated by colour, this show was typically muted with milk-white, super-slicked, super-long haired models stalking down the catwalk in black leathers, suedes and heavy woollens.
Mixing thick fabrics with butter soft, diamond shaped leather panels and spiked, zig zag lines, Koma showcased his high tailoring ability and love of complex cut. The bold, dominating, zig zagged shapes were broken up with simpler, plainer pieces like his stunning, futuristic leather jacket, slashed down the front , with hyper exaggerated shoulders and hips, as well as skin tight separates with daring, flesh-flashing, diamond cut outs.
The tone soon shifted to evening sophistication, as Koma’s signature embellishment made an appearance. Swathes of chunky, patterned strips bunched and piled up over the hips and crept down over the neck. Dramatic, spiked shoulders sprung from the chicest of LBDs, and mounds of glistening silver and gold zips rippled across the arms and hugged the hips in a fabulous feast for the eyes. Flesh coloured bolts of lightning shot down the torso in that same super soft leather and sharp, graphic stars exploded across one shoulder and over the hem.
Koma, it seems, has pulled off a double whammy. After a whirlwind few months, Koma has kept his cool under pressure and delivered a collection which is grown up, sophisticated, and masterfully executed.

Prophetik
First day of London Fashion Week and first up was Prophetik. Walking into the beautiful catwalk space at the Freemasons Hall to country music, the lights dim and a solitary violin starts to play. Suddenly the band starts, as we revealed yesterday Man Raze, one part Sex Pistols two parts Def Leppard were providing the music.
Floor length herringbone and hemp dress showcase the Little House on the Prairie/American civil war theme. Long capes with large collars worn over hooded dresses and jodhpurs. Vintage buttons, riding boots and big bouncy curls complete the country look.
Layered menswear followed the same theme, cord blazers, denim shirts, fitted waistcoats with denim trousers all styled with knotted neckerchiefs.
The final outfit, a red velvet floor length dress dragged along the catwalk. The show really kick started the week's proceedings. We're ready for more now!

The banners are up!
With less than 24 hours to go until the first show here at Vauxhall Fashion Scout in Covent Garden, the Freemasons’ Hall is a veritable hive of activity. The banners are up, the catwalk is being built we speak, lights are being hung, the plasma screens have just arrived, and the shiny new laptops for the media centre are being hooked up by clever looking tech people. All that's left to do is plan one's outfits for the week.

Prophetik set to rock Fashion Week with their opening show
There’s a buzz a-building for Prophetik’s show, with rumours circulating on fashion blog www.fashion-stylist.net that Man Raze, an alternative/nuwave rock band, consisting of musical legends, Phil Collen from Def Leppard, and Paul Cook from the revolutionary Sex Pistols, will be playing at the show. Well, fashion friends, the rumours are true! The band will be rocking it out to kick Fashion Week off in style, and we can’t wait!

Fairtrade and fabulous: Ada Zanditon designs ethical fashion with a difference
The concept of ethical fashion is lovely but the connotations that go with it aren’t always the most interesting.
In contrast to most, Ada Zanditon’s elegant prints are all ethically produced in the UK. Vibrant colours with a mix of soft textures create an exaggerated silhouette. Her signature sculptured collection features organic cotton, silk and jersey fabrics blended with Fairtrade denim.
Not only will she have her first solo catwalk show with Vauxhall Fashion Scout this season, her AW10 collection will also be exhibited at Esthetica in London and Rendez Vous Femme in Paris.
The ever-popular honeybee was the concept behind her last collection, and it seems she has continued along a similarly naturalistic theme. AW10’s collection entitled ‘Echolocation’ is inspired by English bats and the high frequency range they use to fly in darkness.
The rippling shapes that these echoes create in the air are transferred into her prints and silhouettes. The collection is described as being “inspired by branches, cobwebs and beating wings of nocturnal creatures whilst the colour palette should reflect a setting winter sky and bruise like colours.”
