“This collection has been my toughest by far, everything that could go wrong, has gone wrong!” says Sarah Brannon, designer behind the label, Chelsea Rebelle. Judging by the polished, sophisticated and playful collection, Brannon works well under pressure. The premise of the collection is, “moody, edgy, and contradictory”, whereby innocent, childlike silhouettes clash with a gloomy, dark colour palette. Predominantly black, with a faux fur trim in caramel tones, the collection is neat, sophisticated, and versatile.
Simple, silky t-shirts trimmed with fur, a cute pleated tennis skirt and a chic, cropped jacket with fur collar feature, and are sure to be instant hits. Brannon brought in a controversial, almost adolescent vibe, with one piece embellished with a fur claw, and red leather drips of blood stitched underneath. Fine, crocheted lace lifts the heaviness of the black colour scheme, and hand batiked silk in cream and rose pink feature in the shape of sweet little collars against black cotton jersey and leather paneling.
Sleek, simple and quirky, Chelsea Rebelle has managed to be cheeky and controversial, yet remain completely wearable and utterly chic.
