Ahead of Xiao Li's SS15 catwalk
showcase this afternoon, Fashion Scout went backstage to get the low
down on the hair and make up looks that are set to take to the runway
alongside her collection.
Head of Hair, Effie Davis, explains that
Xiao Li's collection features voluminous shapes giving it a soft and
feminine feel throughout although its overall aesthetic remains
structured. For the Xiao Li hair look, Davis and her team have gone
for a sharp and slick aesthetic with a hint of geometry complementing
Li's curved silhouettes. A structured square look is created using
label m. volume mousse to style the hair and label m. hair spray to
make it super slick and shiny.
Head of Make Up, Lan Nguyen-Grealis, describes Li's aesthetic as being very minimal with bold shapes and
girly, oversized features. Nguyen-Grealis comments that Li wanted to
focus her collection's make up look around a statement lip. The make-up team explored pink colour tones and opted for a girly pink that
really popped. The look was created using pink colour crush lip stain
by The Body Shop in colour 205, they then used The Body Shop eye
shadow in Berry Cheeky to matte down the colour.
Skin is kept natural using just a touch of bb
cream to enhance models features, a semi-matte finish concentrates on
highlighting the cheekbones to achieve a structured finish and paling
out underneath the eye area exaggerates the look. Groomed brows and
lightly gelled lashes keep the overall make up aesthetic neutral so
that all of the focus remains on the soft lip.
