SPONSOR| The Body Shop Stand at Fashion Scout London AW14

As part of Body Shop sponsoring Fashion Scout this season, we were thrilled to have two make-up stands located in the Media Lounge for guests to engage with throughout the week. Make-up artists chatted with guests whilst they reviewed the popular products for the season and makeovers took place daily. We chatted with Head of PR, Zoe Cook for Body Shop earlier today who shared her thoughts on the success of Body Shop this season at Fashion Scout.

What’s The Body Shop stand all about?
The Body Shop stand is all about showcasing our fabulous make-up collection, which is used on the models backstage, and encouraging Fashion Scout guests to have a makeover by one of our store make-up artists and try the products for themselves. The reaction to the Colour Crush™ Eyes and Lips ranges has been amazing, as has the All-In-BB Creams and primers. Guests have been delighted with the colour intensity and pay-off and the results that can be achieved.

What’s it like it being back for another season?
Being back at Fashion Scout London is fantastic; it’s a partnership that celebrates and supports new talent - for The Body Shop that takes place backstage with a talented team of make-up artists headed up by Lan Nguyen-Grealis. It’s wonderful to see their creativity come to life and the stunning looks produced to complement the designers’ collections.

How has the response been?
The response to The Body Shop Make-up collection has been amazing. Guests have been bowled over by the looks that head make-up artist Lan Nguyen-Grealis and her team have created for the shows, as well as the makeovers that have been taking place by our stand. The latter has been hugely popular and extremely busy with queues over the first three days.

INTERVIEW| Gareth Pugh

The fashion elite turned out in style for Pam Hogg's AW14 collection showcase earlier this week at Fashion Scout London. Fellow designer and fan of Hogg stopped for quick talk about his upcoming collaboration with the designer.

What is it about Pam Hogg that attracts you to her work?

Pam is a friend, we have been working together recently on a project, we are making a film with Ruth Hogben. Her show is for Amnesty and that is what our joint project is for too, protesting what is going on in the world. We have got Kate Moss and Caryn Franklin featuring in it too.

What do you think of Fashion Scout as a platform for young design talent?

It's great. It supports young designers and creative people, where there is not a lot of money in London. I think young designers need this - every little helps.

EXHIBITION| Kiev Fashion Days, Lera Leshchova AW14

Ukrainian designer Lera Leshchova has showcased her AW14 collection for her brand ‘LL’ at this seasons Fashion Scout. Taking inspiration from a handmade folk rug in a Ukrainian museum, Leshchova’s collection is rich in texture and experimental in its cuts. A dark colour palette dominates the collection with hints of metallic and purple tones breaking up an otherwise opaque palette. Straight silhouettes are heavily contrasted by a number of voluminous woven textured garments which Leshchova has created using traditional ukrainian carpet weaving techniques.

Each clean lined garment in this AW14 collection features it own eye-catching experimental detailing, smart grey dresses are combined with oversized woven sleeves and metallic panelling adds interest to pelmet mini skirts. Leather, drape, caracul and mens suiting fabrics are utilised throughout the collection resulting in functional designs in luxe materials complete with high fashion detailing.

INTERVIEW| Martyn Roberts, Fashion Scout Director

On the penultimate day of Fashion Scout we caught up with Fashion Scout Director Martyn Roberts to get his thoughts on this season's showcase.

How has Fashion Scout this season progressed from previous seasons?

It has been very successful. We've had some great new designers which is wonderful to see. For a little while there were not a lot of new designers coming through. It's also been great to see our designers developing from previous seasons. We have had some great media this season, and some fantastic buyers coming to our shows.

Do you have any personal highlights from this season?

Our Merit Award winner. I am very proud of our Merit winner. Xiao Li’s collection was stunning and highly creative, she kept true to herself and pushed barriers. I think she is going to be very successful. I have really enjoyed all of the collections this season.

What can we expect to see from Fashion Scouts Paris and Kiev showrooms?

In Paris we will have all of the collections that we have shown in London but in a showroom setting. Guests will be able to see the collections up close, talk to the designers and buy the clothes. We also have new designers showing in our Paris showroom including Nathan French who has some fantastic designs. He's created his entire collection using feathers. In Kiev, we will have a new range of designers, all from that region showing their collections in a showroom setting. It's very exciting.

What does the future hold for Fashion Scout?

We will carry on supporting and showcasing the best new British talent as well as showcasing International designers. Creativity is not just confined to one country, London is the heart of creativity but its about bringing a worldwide creative industry to London and that in turn will make us stronger.

How important is the blog team in the day to day running of Fashion Scout?

Our social media team is vital. They are the first people to see and review every show, they are the first to receive all of the backstage information and images. If someone misses a show they can see it all on the blog which is why it is so important. All anyone has to do is log onto the blog and it's all there. All of our hair and makeup crew and our writers and photographers are crucial to the success of Fashion Scout. Fashion Scout is a place to celebrate all of this creative work. Fashion isn’t just about design, its about celebrating all creative aspects of this process.

How do you feel about Fashions Scout's growing success?

Very proud. The team are so passionate and dedicated to showcasing exciting new talent. We are all here to help designers reach for their dreams.

EXHIBITION| Kiev Fashion Days, Anna K AW14

At the young age of 18 years old, Anna K has already attracted international recognition. Praised by Italian Vogue and listing the likes of Henry Holland as fans, her name has already printed itself firmly on Kiev’s fashion radar.

Having entered the fashion world at the tender age of 16, the young designer displayed her latest creations in London this afternoon at Fashion Scout's Freemasons' Hall.

An ex-model herself, Anna K channels the ‘model off-duty’ look with statement t-shirts and faux-fur coats. Drawing inspiration from Suzy Menkes’ critical essay ‘Fashion Circus’, statement t-shirts are set to stir the industry with slogans “I am on the list” and “I don’t do interviews”. A collection of wearable, affordable and on-trend pieces, Fashion Scout looks forward in anticipation to the big things that are bound to happen for this emerging designer.

DAY FIVE| Fashion Scout London AW14

Although we're sad to say it's the last day of Fashion Scout London, we can't deny how innovative the talent has been this season. Be it our Ones to Watch show on the Day One, our Merit Award showcasing on Day Two or the rest of our designers that have showcased on our catwalks, AW14 has certainly been an impressive one.

Today, FAD will be showcasing at our Freemasons' Hall at 19:00. Working alongside universities, FAD will be putting the most cutting edge of young designers on the catwalk. With past FAD finalists going on to work for Vivienne Westwood and Burberry to name a few, we look forward to seeing what they have to show this season.

Be sure to keep up with everything happening and to re-visit what's already happened over the past four days on our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram

COLLECTION| Renli Su AW14

After featuring in Fashion Scout’s Ones To Watch show last season, Chinese designer Renli Su is back for another season.

The designer’s AW14 collection follows on with her love of texture, combining eclectic and international blends of fabric to create a rustic, traditional feel. Since showcasing her SS24 collection on the catwalk last season at Fashion Scout London, Su wanted to do something different and today she hosted a presentation in the grand Vestibule at Freemasons' Hall.

“This time, we tried a different way of presenting,” explains the designer. “My fashion is kind of raw, so a lot of it is hand work that takes a lot of time so I want people to see the detail and the textures in the fabric.”

Inspired by the work of Brazilian artist Mira Schendel, Su has focused her attention on merging femininity with oversized silhouettes and geometric designs. With a neutral colour palette of earthy white, soft grey and ivory a bold dash of terracotta stands out without throwing the collection off balance. The designer introduced some  of her technique and fabric to her designs this season using handmade organic Indian linen called Khadi, blended with organic wool and linen from Ireland.

Thrilled to be back at Fashion Scout for another season, she says “last season was my first time to show and it got some very good reviews in the press. If it wasn’t for Fashion Scout, I wouldn’t have that kind of opportunity!"

BACKSTAGE| Renli Su

The TONI&GUY team are hard at work for Renli Su’s debut show at Fashion Scout this afternoon. At the heart of this collection is a unique combination of Indian handmade linen with organic fabrics from Ireland. Stylists are seeking to reflect this in the hair, “We’re trying to project the organic feeling of the clothes into the hair by combining two elements”  Daniel de Angelis explains. “Strength is will be reflected in the ‘peek-a-boo’ plait at the front of the face whilst the long waves capture the youthful and free vibe of the clothes”. Stylists blow dried Label.M body mousse into the hair to achieve the volumised and textured finish. A spiral wand was then used to create natural looking waves which maintained the distinctly untechnical and earthy look.

Make-up was kept natural to in keeping with the organic theme which permeates the collection. Model’s cheeks were flushed with light colour and make-up artists strayed away from statement colours. Emphasis was placed on natural beauty with an earthy brown palette. Brows were groomed, filled in then rubbed off and eyeshadow was lightly applied to accentuate the eyes. To finish off the look, lips had brown undertones which a combination of shades to achieve a rusty pink
