SPONSOR| Backstage at FAD with Freelance The Workspace

Our nail gurus for the week from Freelance The Work Space have been working hard to create nails designs to complement each of the designers’ collections for every show. In an exclusive interview, we spoke to Loris from Freelance The Work Space about their nail creations for our closing show of the week, FAD.

The Creative Management, PR and Branding Agency, source projects internationally and were on hand backstage to prepare models for the FAD showcase.  Working with Fashion Scout London for five seasons, the agency have overseen beauty looks from countless designers and this evening gave stunning nails designs for the FAD catwalk show.

Which nail design are you using to compliment all the different designers in the FAD show?

We had originally thought about painting each of the model's nails the colour of the clothes they’re wearing but after the castings and careful consideration we have decided to take a different approach. We didn’t want to take focus away from the dressing so we’re creating a nude base with a half moon of colour at the bottom. It’s a subtle but clever way to incorporate the designers’ creativity into the models nails.

Have you enjoyed working at Fashion Scout this season?

Working at Fashion Scout is always busy and chaotic, but that’s what we love about it and that’s what drives us. It goes a lot smoother than it looks. I wouldn’t miss working at Fashion Scout for the world; it’s a fantastic opportunity to work with new and upcoming designers.

SPONSOR| The Body Shop Stand at Fashion Scout London AW14

As part of Body Shop sponsoring Fashion Scout this season, we were thrilled to have two make-up stands located in the Media Lounge for guests to engage with throughout the week. Make-up artists chatted with guests whilst they reviewed the popular products for the season and makeovers took place daily. We chatted with Head of PR, Zoe Cook for Body Shop earlier today who shared her thoughts on the success of Body Shop this season at Fashion Scout.

What’s The Body Shop stand all about?
The Body Shop stand is all about showcasing our fabulous make-up collection, which is used on the models backstage, and encouraging Fashion Scout guests to have a makeover by one of our store make-up artists and try the products for themselves. The reaction to the Colour Crush™ Eyes and Lips ranges has been amazing, as has the All-In-BB Creams and primers. Guests have been delighted with the colour intensity and pay-off and the results that can be achieved.

What’s it like it being back for another season?
Being back at Fashion Scout London is fantastic; it’s a partnership that celebrates and supports new talent - for The Body Shop that takes place backstage with a talented team of make-up artists headed up by Lan Nguyen-Grealis. It’s wonderful to see their creativity come to life and the stunning looks produced to complement the designers’ collections.

How has the response been?
The response to The Body Shop Make-up collection has been amazing. Guests have been bowled over by the looks that head make-up artist Lan Nguyen-Grealis and her team have created for the shows, as well as the makeovers that have been taking place by our stand. The latter has been hugely popular and extremely busy with queues over the first three days.

SPONSOR| Mannequino at Fashion Scout London

For the AW14 season, Fashion Scout have been joined by brand Mannequino. Designer duo Arash Kaynama and Kelly Sant have created flat pack mannequins- something that is extremely useful during the busy fashion week. Light as a feather and easy to carry and store, these mannequins are what every designer needs. They're simple to move and recreate, affordable, environmentally friendly and to top it all off, look both modern and stylish. We spoke to Kelly Sant, one half on the ingenious duo, to get some extra information on the brand.

In your own words, explain Mannequino and your role in the company.

Mannequino is a new concept for fashion designers. It’s super light weight body allows designers to elevate their collections anywhere in the world affordably again and again, just by packing them flat with their collections. Dealing with heavy and easily damaged mannequins is a well-known pain - Mannequino is a painkiller!

Arash and myself designed the concept together, we're directors and designers, which is a tough mix, but it gives us a distinct edge when it comes to innovating.

What sets the Mannequino apart from normal mannequins?

Mannequino is manufactured in the UK, this is almost a unique situation, generally mannequin production happens in the far east. We wanted to design something disruptive to the market, something evolutionary and something that represents the way fashion now is being sold- a totally new level of versatility. Our products are engineered from flat sheets of plastic, which means they can flat packed and sent in the post anywhere in the world at the drop of the hat, which is a massive advantage for fashion designers.

What is your favourite feature of Mannequino?
Right now the lighting. You can create exciting installations with them using our smart lighting systems for shows, in-store and pop-up shops. Mannequinos are internally lit with a wireless LED lighting system which will change colour at your command, drawing passers-by - as if by magic!

What’s it like for you to be working with Fashion Scout this season? Anything about this season you’re really looking forward to?

It's our first season working with Fashion Scout, so we're excited to be representing the hottest fashion designers at one of the UK's largest fashion showcases for emerging and established design talent. Everything about this season is something to look forward to for us! We're proud to be representing future design talents, as Mannequino is about the future thinking and being different.

NEWS| Fashion Scout Review The LumixGM1

With so many cameras flashing away during London Fashion Week, we’ve chosen to truly stand out from the crowd with the un-missable, on-trend orange LumixGM1. We’re using this mini marvel exclusively for our backstage, VIP and street-style photography.

With so much to see and shoot, we’re constantly kept busy documenting the hottest street-style looks of all the VIPs and bloggers who attend our shows. One of the best things about using this camera is, without a doubt, the high speed auto-focus, which allows for high quality photos to be taken at high speed as we rush between shows.

Due to the typical English weather, we’re being kept on our toes this season, but the camera is perfect at taking photos in any lighting condition.

As well as taking flawless street style shots, the Panasonic LumixGM1’s eye-catching orange colour makes it our go-to gadget to be seen carrying around at Fashion Scout this season.

‘As  a Fashion Scout street-style photographer, the brand new Panasonic LumixGM1 has been a pleasure to use, easy to get to grips with and simple to use.  After the shows, it’s been a joy to discover that the photos require almost no editing, so I get a quick turnaround for the Fashion Scout blog.’
Aimee Hall, street-style photographer

‘The Panasonic LumixGM1 has come in really handy when taking photos of the VIPs. The ease of use means that I can run in, grab a quick photo of the front row and then dash off before the show’s about to start.’
Jamike Latif, VIP photographer
