Recharge at Fashion Scout with The Body Shop's Spa In The City

Three days into Fashion Week and running from show to show, living off a diet of canapés and prosecco is probably starting to take its toll? Fear not! The Body Shop are stationed in the Exhibition Space at Fashion Scout's Freemason's Hall to aid recharge between shows. Guests can choose to pamper themselves with a choice of massage, manicure, makeover or facial or indulge in the full set for the ultimate #SpaInTheCity experience.

The Fashion Scout blog team were lucky enough to attend Spa In The City for a pampering session ahead of a busy day covering shows.

The first spa experience is the massage room, treating weary guests to a revitalising 15 minute treatment. Guests receive a choice of aromatherapy oils: Lemongrass (to stimulate the senses ahead of a busy day of shows), or Lavender (to unwind before heading home in the evening). The seated Chinese accupressure massage works out tension built up from hours of sitting crammed on benches and craning your neck to get the best view of the latest designs. Featuring oils from The Body Shop's Spa Of The World range guests feel recharged and relaxed, ready to continue their day.

The Body Shop nail station offers manicures to compliment show goers outfits. Beginning with a hand massage, guests are then treated to a shape and polish from an array of beautiful colours, ranging from classic tones to seasonal colours. Using natural products, which are perfect for sensitive skin, nails are painted using polishes from the Colour Crush collection. The Body Shop recommends colours to compliment AW15's autumnal palette, such as 'Crazy For Blue 610',  'The Body Shop Green 510' and 'Gorgeous Grey 720'. Hands made dry from the cold September weather are then moisturised using The Body Shop's hand cream and cuticle oil duos in a choice of Wild Rose or Almond.

The Body Shop's skincare experts are on hand to provide an antidote with a personal skincare consultation demonstrating the best products for your face. Suitable for all skin types and enriched with Wheatgerm Oil, the Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet can be applied to keep skin moisturised throughout the day. With spherical aqua particles that burst naturally over time, it'll keep your skin looking beautifully hydrated for up to 24 hours.

SPONSOR| Make Up Trend SS14: Statement Eyes by The Body Shop UK

Ji Cheng

Natasha Zinko

Little Shilpa

Rohmir

Basharatyan V

London Fashion Week has kept Fashion Scout on our toes so far this week with trends emerging left and right. From radiant complexions to bold lips, we’re keeping an eye on the next big looks in the beauty industry. One of our favourite trends to come about so far has been statement making eyes. It is said that the eyes are the window to the soul, and there's no better way to get all the attention on yours than a statement eye makeup look. Smoky eyes are taken to the next level - dramatic eyeliner flicks, intricate gemstone designs, and exaggerated eyebrows make this look larger than life.

Ji Cheng’s collection derived heavily from far eastern influences which reflected in the make-up. Dramatic blocked Geisha inspired eyebrows were the focal point of this look- they were the first thing we noticed and all we could think about long after we left. Bold, brave and strong- just like Cheng’s collection.

At Natasha Zinko, up to three stylists work on one model creating a classic look of dark eyes and a strong brow, working quickly in the busy backstage room. Soft smoked eyelids contrasted well with bright red lips where the models give off a fierce femme fatale look.

The Body Shop team were absorbed in the act of placing gold glossy eyebrows on the models faces at Little Shilpa. Emphasis was definitely placed on the eyes; black eye shadows created an intense look whilst lips were masked with foundation- ensuring all the attention was kept on the show-stopping eyes.

Speaking of show-stopping eyes, The Body Shop opted for strong geometrical lines and heavy contouring at Liz Black. Eyebrows were blocked and eyelids shadowed with bold Cobalt Blue and The Body Shop Colour Crush shadow in ‘Blue Over You’, to complement the colours used in the collection.

Meanwhile, sparkling gemstones in deep blue, silver and jet black were carefully applied around the eye of a model backstage at Rohmir for a dramatic but beautiful effect.
Make-up artists at Fam Irvoll drew attention to the models’ eyes by painting eyeliner in three short lines on the side of each eye for a graphic and edgy look.

Strong eyebrows were definitely the buzzwords at Basharatyan V. Brows were dark and thick- the mantra seemed to be the heavier, the better. To achieve the look, brow gel was used first then filled in with carbon brown eye definer and brow kits.
Whether the eyeshadow is smoky, brows are bold or the liner is graphic, it’s clear that eyes will be the focal point for SS14. Paired with an updo and plenty of attitude, putting the spotlight on the eyes is certainly a way to get noticed.

SPONSOR| Interview with Zoe Cook, Head of PR for The Body Shop UK

Zoe Cook, Head of PR for The Body Shop UK (right).
Sheena Appadoo, Assistant PR Manager for The Body Shop UK (left).

All this week The Body Shop team have been backstage creating the looks for the Spring Summer 2014 shows and trialling the latest trends. We spoke to head of PR at The Body Shop Zoe Cook on their continuing presence at Fashion Scout and their new Colour Crush™ Me Magic Mirror which has been engaging with visitors in the entrance for the past few days.

The Body Shop has a great relationship with Fashion Scout at London Fashion Week and you're back again for Spring Summer 2014. How has this season been for you so far?
This week has been incredible; we’ve seen a great calibre of shows and more guests attending this season. It’s fantastic to be part of such an exciting event, as well as a great opportunity to showcase The Body Shop make-up through the team backstage and the interactive activity we’re doing in the Exhibition Space.

Talk us through your hero products for this season and why they were chosen.
The key The Body Shop products that have been a staple for head make-up artist Lan Nguyen-Grealis during the SS14 shows are:

1. All-in-One BB Cream – a versatile, colour-adapting cream which transforms from a white colour to suit your skin tone.It lifts the skin instantly for that healthy ‘no makeup’ fresh-faced look.
2. Radiant Highlighter – this make-up gem lightens and brightens skin so great for tired complexions. Can be used underneath or on top of foundation, or as Lan did mixing it with foundation for a pearly finish.
3. Colour Crush™ Eye Colour 115 Be My Clementine – this tangerine hue with a slight pearl finish is on trend for the season. It works well with eyes to give a natural glow and definition.
4. Colour Crush™ Lipsticks 205 Passionate Pink – pink is the new red; this beautiful vibrant shade sits between red and pink for a fresh, pop of colour.
5. Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder – this is a versatile product; great for both contouring and adding colour to skin, and as it's a matte finish it also helps minimise shine around the t-zone.

The Magic Mirror has been a hit so far; how have people reacted to the project and how has the integration of social media impacted The Body Shop at Fashion Scout?
We’ve had a huge interest in the interactive Colour Crush™ Me Magic Mirror; guests have loved that it’s quirky and different, and they’re able to share a set of three full length images of themselves instantly on Twitter.

The Body Shop Magic Mirror features three full length mirrors at an angle so that the person standing in front sees themselves in each one simultaneously. Within each of the three mirrors there are five hidden cameras (from the top to the base) so the end result is a still full length image that is a collage of the five ascending photos. By standing in front of the Magic Mirror and sending it a Tweet they activate the cameras which then takes their photo and tweets it back to them.

Twitter has been a quick, fun and shareable way to engage guests with our make-up range in particularly the Colour Crush™ Eye Colour and Lipstick collection. The entire conversation, from beginning to end including the pictures, is held on twitter and is visible to the person’s followers. It’s been a successful way to reach out to key influencers within the industry.
