London Fashion Week has kept Fashion Scout on our toes so
far this week with trends emerging left and right. From radiant complexions to
bold lips, we’re keeping an eye on the next big looks in the beauty industry.
One of our favourite trends to come about so far has been statement making
eyes. It is said that the eyes are the window to the soul, and there's no
better way to get all the attention on yours than a statement eye makeup look.
Smoky eyes are taken to the next level - dramatic eyeliner flicks, intricate
gemstone designs, and exaggerated eyebrows make this look larger than life.
Ji Cheng’s
collection derived heavily from far eastern influences which reflected in the
make-up. Dramatic blocked Geisha inspired eyebrows were the focal point of this
look- they were the first thing we noticed and all we could think about long
after we left. Bold, brave and strong- just like Cheng’s collection.
At Natasha Zinko,
up to three stylists work on one model creating a classic look of dark eyes and
a strong brow, working quickly in the busy backstage room. Soft smoked eyelids
contrasted well with bright red lips where the models give off a fierce femme
fatale look.
The Body Shop team were absorbed in the act of placing gold
glossy eyebrows on the models faces at Little
Shilpa. Emphasis was definitely placed on the eyes; black eye shadows
created an intense look whilst lips were masked with foundation- ensuring all
the attention was kept on the show-stopping eyes.
Speaking of show-stopping eyes, The Body Shop opted for
strong geometrical lines and heavy contouring at Liz Black. Eyebrows were blocked and eyelids shadowed with bold
Cobalt Blue and The Body Shop Colour Crush shadow in ‘Blue Over You’, to
complement the colours used in the collection.
Meanwhile, sparkling gemstones in deep blue, silver and jet
black were carefully applied around the eye of a model backstage at Rohmir for a dramatic but beautiful
effect.
Make-up artists at Fam
Irvoll drew attention to the models’ eyes by painting eyeliner in three
short lines on the side of each eye for a graphic and edgy look.
Strong eyebrows were definitely the buzzwords at Basharatyan V. Brows were dark and
thick- the mantra seemed to be the heavier, the better. To achieve the look,
brow gel was used first then filled in with carbon brown eye definer and brow
kits.
Whether the eyeshadow is smoky, brows are bold or the liner
is graphic, it’s clear that eyes will be the focal point for SS14. Paired with
an updo and plenty of attitude, putting the spotlight on the eyes is certainly
a way to get noticed.
