Born and raised in Oslo, Norway, Fam Irvoll graduated from
Esmod International in 2005 and later from Central St Martins in London in
2008. Irvoll has also worked as an assistant for designers such as Vivienne
Westwood, Gareth Pugh and norwegian designer Peter Løchstøer.
All Fam’s designs are heavily influenced by her love of
childhood memorabilia and creates a grand sense of warming nostalgia. Her
previous collection was reflective of the famous American artist Roy
Lichtenstein’s work, with pop prints and three dimensional speech bubbles.
Her signature style of bright colours, three dimensional
shapes combined with cartoon elements is immediately apparent in her SS14
collection. She contrasts bright turquoise and bold purple with cream and
charcoal grey for a collection that screams playfulness but is also extremely
wearable. All the latex pieces in the Fam Irvoll collection are designed and made by Vin and Omi under their label VO taking Fam's prints as inspiration.
The collection also features three dimensional ruffles and chunky colour-block platforms. Cartoon caricatures continue from last season but tigers, roses and swallows take centre stage this time around. Statement eyes, dark lips and perfectly coiffed updo’s complete the whimsical look.
