Lulu Liu has stated she was in an ‘idyllic state of mind’ whilst getting inspiration for her SS14 collection. As she awaited the birth of her son Joshua her joy was fully embodied into her ‘Yarrow Wando’ collection. Today at Freemasons’ Hall we were presented with a harmonious show of pure opulence.
The ‘Yarrow Wando’ is a fictional dragonfish straight from Lulu Liu’s imagination. Rich corals, fuschias, and celeste brought the Yarrow Wando to life. Luxurious silks including the ancient Xiangyunsha silk, which is known to be used in garments for the elite of Asian royal society, and leather accompanied the colour palette in bringing a fresh and inventive concept to LFW.
A complex focus on each garment was executed and the majority of pieces were definitely wearable. Lulu Liu’s signature voluminous silhouettes were present with folds, ruffles, puffed sleeved and flounced skirts.
Metallic tassled handbags were a chic accompaniment to the stunning collection and were the result of a collaboration with Cherelle Brown of IAMQING.
Lulu Liu’s pregnancy, time spent in Japan and her active imagination are all contributing factors to her tasteful SS14 show- not to mention her incredible talent!
