COLLECTION|| Ji Cheng SS14

Opening with a film inspired by the tale of ‘Peony Pavilion’, Ji Cheng returns to Fashion Scout for the fourth time with her highly anticipated collection, this season sees the designer team up with luxury Chinese shoe brand Sheme. Hauntingly beautiful, the ‘Peony Pavilion’ inspired collection reflects a story of love and passion which is seen throughout the collection.

Organic textures mimic peonies with jewelled tones that range from auburn, fuchsia, mint and white in this collection that brings in elements of traditional Chinese dress with a modern twist. Pleating techniques with luxurious fabrics tell a romantic story where utopian and melancholic themes are represented in greys and blues. Sheer on solid panelling gives intricacy to asymmetric shapes whilst rope detailing adds traditional subtleties to open backed dresses.

The collection ranges from the demure to the light and refreshing with shorts and jumpsuits in mint accented with bright pink. Low backed shift dresses with metallic hues are adorned with three dimensional peonies keeping the theme alive throughout.

Ji Cheng’s modern take on traditional Chinese aesthetics  make her a unique designer whose following increases season by season, creating an individual way of storytelling through her collections.
