In February Fashion Scout welcomed nine Ukraine designers to their catwalk. This season we welcome back Kiev Fashion Days for their second season with a brand new collection of designers.
The exhibition and catwalk show will feature six talents, carefully curated by Fashion Scout. Today we will see two returning designers Anna Kolomoets and Yasya Minochkin and showcasing for the first time will be Anton Belinskiy, Lera Leshchova, Lia Sin, and RCR Khomenko.
Fashion Scout went backstage at Kiev Fashion Days to look at the key trends that will be shown today at Freemasons’ Hall.
The immediate observation was that each designer has a distinct style, but also a highly unique taste. None of the collections could be confused with one another, and hopefully that will work in their favour as they aim to make an impression today.
Lera Leshcova was the first rail that Fashion Scout spotted. Elegantly lengthy gowns and amorphous dresses act as modest and conservative. Decadent satins, hints of feminine fuchsia and sparkling folds of material augment allure on the seemingly demure collection.
Lia Syn also seemed to have taken inspiration from traditional
wear with distended sleeves and full length dresses. A subtle palette of browns
and creams juxtaposed with snake-skin accessories allowed this designer to fuse
her collection with contemporary trends.
Chic would be the word to describe Yasya Minochkin’s SS14
collection. Crisp wide sleeves, orange finishings, and cut out shoulders present
Yasya’s creativity and classic style. An aim to experiment with shape is
evident as Yasya has a collection packed with interesting silhouettes.
Anna Kolomoets collection was hidden so far back it could have
been missed; however this is a collection that you did not want to miss today. It appeared Yasya and Anna shared a palette of
white. Sheers and frills projected a sense of purity that is refreshing.
RCR Khomenko’s garments definitely stand out. Playful cartoon
animals and cars will create mayhem on the catwalk.
Finally we came across Anton Belinskiy’s work. Alike with
Khomenko, we saw a bright array of clothing that presents Anton’s
experimentation with various materials and patterns.
With a growing interest in Eastern-European designers- this show
and exhibition will be well suited to an audience that craves diversity and
entertainment.
