Catwalk Show Review : Jasper Garvida

The remarkable Jasper Garvida showcased his SS11 collection this evening with Vauxhall Fashion Scout. Already renowned for his beautifully embellished dresses and sophisticated cuts, his current efforts followed suit. Candy coloured dresses floated down the runway, ruched and ruffled in all the right places. With a classical music accompaniment, Jasper’s designs glided prettily in front of the audience in coral, peach, cream and lilac tones. The looks were feminine, elegant and ideal for spring. To add to this, models’ hair was enhanced with white and pink top-knot wigs, kept in place with sparkly tiaras. Oversized flower corsages were spotted everywhere! Never too predictable, the looks were given a sexier edge with sequinned hotpants, striped crochet pieces and structured blazers. Shoes were fierce too, and studded to contrast the ladylike dresses.
As the soundtrack switched to the Scissor Sister’s ‘Filthy Gorgeous’, the girls strutted past the crowds in dark brown snakeskin effect straight leg trousers or cropped trousers with gold zips. Skinny belts cinched the waist with a bow, in beige or patent black. Overall, the show compiled pieces from ra-ra mini dresses to a modern skirt suit but clothing was kept in sync through its womanly shape.
Example’s latest single filled the Main Hall for the finale and Jasper blew kisses to his fans to show his appreciation. Before backstage got too manic, I congratulated the designer on the show and he gushed, “it was great, thank you so much”! Another triumph for Jasper.
