LFW Day 3 - Fashion Mode : James Hillman

This season, Hillman was heavily inspired by the intricate distillation process of crude oil. Because of this, the menswear collection was completely black, with each fabric signifying a different tier in the crude oil process. Fabric textures varied from woollen cashmere mixes, leather and lightweight wax cottons producing a wet look allusion. To complement the black on black looks, models sported black nail varnish, tan make up and sleek combed over hair. They wore solid black boots or patent shoes and carried over sized reindeer leather bags. The purple lining of the suit jackets provided the only hue of colour throughout.

It was James’ attention to detail that made his corporate suits exciting and forced a striking male silhouette. Hidden shoulder buttons, pocket detailing, silver binding, buckles and diagonal silver zips (seen at the crotch, ankles and shoulders) featured. The experimental pieces worked fierce pointed shoulders, panelling or pinstripe, and folded cuffs. Shirts were either high collared or collarless tunics. Hillman’s wearable designs constructed a covetable tough, masculine, rock outcome.
