Pam Hogg: LAWLESS SS16's Modern Renegade

Pam Hogg: Give a man a gun and he'll rob a bank, give a man a bank and he'll rob the world.

No doubt one of the seasonal highlights in the Fashion Scout schedule was last nights showcase of Pam Hogg’s SS16 collection. Entitled 'Lawless' with the tag line 'Give a man a gun and he'll rob a bank, give a man and a bank and he'll rob the world.' Pam planted the audience in the Wild West as she offered a series of powerful looks perfect for the modern renegade.

Models (every bit as fierce as Pam herself) walked with defiant stares, wearing sandy country prints and peachy tassels. Duster coats, wide sweeping skirts and coordinated suits each displaying contrasting metallic leather lapels embellished with a 'H' motif. Her country/western undertones continued with high tasseled boots and leather chaps for the 21st century cowboy.

Pam continues to stray from convention with her eccentric studding. A stand out look was an off-white leather bikini covered in round studs and metallic spikes, encompassing Pam's rebellious character. A series of trans-seasonal coats continued this trend with a stone leather trench covered in large military style studs. Neutrals were contrasted against bright desert-toned leathers fit for rock royalty.

Anti-establishment shone through her collection as feminine shapes were constructed with tough leathers, metal embellishments and stiff collars, a power outfit for the brave. As Dick Dale's 'Miserlou' blasted through the speakers, Pam's loyal rock-royalty front row began to dance, the unconventional catwalk atmosphere reflecting the playful unruliness of the collection on all accounts.

It wouldn't be a Pam Hogg collection without her trademark catsuits and the spandex clad models pounded the catwalk in acid bright creations. Daring cutouts were highlighted with metallic accents and garnished with tassels that sashayed with movement. Accessories were consistent throughout the designs, with oversized berets and bandit style scarves tied around the models wrists.

As the collection closed, Pam Hogg took to the catwalk to accept her well deserved applause. Front row guests including Jamie Winstone, Lee Starkey and Jay Mehler congratulated a stand out collection highlighting Pam's rock 'n' roll roots. With bold trans-seasonal outerwear and a fierce aesthetic, Pam confirmed that she can create both dramatic and wearable pieces. Her style continues to progress but her brand identity remains as it always has been - clothes for leaders and not for followers.

FRONT ROW| Tony Glenville at Ones to Watch SS15

Tony Glenville, fashion journalist and Creative Director of the London College of Fashion, sat front row at Fashion Scout’s Ones To Watch show this morning. Ready to be surprised and impressed by the fresh talent on show, Glenville enjoys discovering designers not necessarily splashed all over mainstream fashion media.

What do you think of Fashion Scout as a platform for young designers and emerging talent?

I think it’s a great idea that away from the establishment there’s a real showcase for people who are starting their careers. People who perhaps have a different approach to fashion to the mainstream. Fashion Scout is the perfect showcase for them.

What other Fashion Scout shows are you seeing this season?

Almost everything, I think. It’s only day one and I’m sorting my schedule out, but I know I’m watching quite a lot.

Is there somebody that you are most looking forward to?

No, because I’ve learnt that every season there’s a surprise. I’ve learnt after many years of shows that someone you loved last season may be not as strong the following season, so I’m completely open and I love the surprise.

Have you seen any key trends coming out of fashion month already?

I think I would quote Cathy Horyn from the New York Times and say that it’s all about the pieces; it’s all about reality and clothes. I think that there’s a definite change, and if you look at Galliano, Marc Jacobs, McQueen - all the lavish spectacle, we’re slightly over that at the moment. We want to see what the fashion business is really about.

So how do you feel about the ‘Normcore’ aesthetic of the past few seasons?

(Fakes yawn) I think it’s always been there, just at the moment it’s the newest thread to hang a story on and it’s a new name.

What do you take from fashion week?

From the shows, I get inspiration. I get the opportunity to see people not necessarily getting so much PR because they’re not in every supplement, they’re not on all the websites. Vogue and Style.com don’t necessarily cover them, so it’s a great opportunity to be in the room and see the stuff.

FRONT ROW| Kiev Fashion Days SS14

Sat front row at the Mercedes- Benz Kiev Fashion Day’s show, hoping to scout out new talent, we spotted Vogue Italia’s Sara Maino. Fashion Scout caught up with her after the show to hear what she thought. Here’s what she had to say:

What did you think of this years Mercedes –Benz Kiev showcase?
Overall I thought it was really good, showing great potential for all six designers. It was a great occasion.

Which out of the six collections we have just seen, stood out in particular for you?
Oh, I’m not sure I can say one in particular, but I do think that Yasia Minochkina, RCR KHOMENKO and Anton Belinskiy’s collections stood out today.

Are you seeing any other Fashion Scout shows over the next few days?
Unfortunately I am not as I am leaving the UK today, but I did get a chance to go upstairs and see the Graduate Showcase before this show. The talent there is very good.

What about Fashion Scout as a platform, we hear you are a big supporter?
It is a really great organization. The effort that Martin and the team put in is amazing. It is very satisfying to watch how it grows and how it supports these young designers.

With the cast from Channel 4 series 'Made In Chelsea' coming to film for their next series, and fashion-darling Laura Whitmore attending former Merit Award Winner Heohwan Simulation's show- the FROW at Fashion Scout was never dull.

Pam Hogg brought in the usual crowd- Jaime Winstone, who has previously modelled for the designer, along with prestigious photographer Rankin. The stylist Rebekah Roy was seen several times, along with TV's favourite Lydia Bright who now has her own style column in a National magazine.

FRONT ROW| Heohwan Simulation FEB'13

Former Merit Award winner Heohwan Simulation showcased his AW13 collection on the catwalk at our Freemason's Hall. MTV presenter Laura Whitmore and stylist, writer and tipped to be fashion's next big thing Angela Scanlon spoke from the front row on the designer.

Laura Whitmore
I am a huge fan of the Heohwan Simulation brand, I’m wearing one of his jackets today! I love the fact that his clothes are edgy enough to be different, but wearable enough for every day life. I thoroughly enjoyed the show.
Angela Scanlon
I am wearing a Heohwan Simulation dress today; I love the talent he showcases through his work. For such a new designer he demonstrates such maturity in his work. His pieces offer great shapes and most importantly they are wearable.
