Louise Amstrup

If there is ever designer who combines installation and clothes perfectly then Louise Amstrup is the new face on the block to look out for. Having hailed from the infamous Akademie Modedesign and trained under the watchful eyes of McQueen, Kokosalaki and Saunders there are high hopes for the Danish born designer.

Today’s presentation focused on the simplicity and beauty of the reflections shown in broken mirrors. So, imagine a room divided in two…

On the right hand side- mirrors, mirrors, mirrors. All shapes and sizes - old/new, clean/dirty. In front five models. Five dresses – all black and grey with on one hints of rich red, and on another a kaleidoscope of rainbow brights - all sculpted and fitted.

On the left – fourteen mannequins featuring the latest from Amstrup. Known for her use of silk and soft chiffons, the garments seemed to be designed for the woman of “tomorrow” with futuristic, streamlined silhouettes.  All this supported by harem pants, draped silk tops and chiffon detailing – all that in the monochrome palette of course, with only light touches of print. As the mirrors reproduced the looks opposite it seemed the collection was infinite.
