An army of long legged models armed with metallic caps
and chiffon take on male shapes, reinventing by Zeynep using soft chiffon
against intricate details and cut-out shapes. The girl is tough and sporty with
racer backs, high studded collars and sleek ponytails. The designer’s use of
metallics displayed last season is used subtly this time around, accenting an
equestrian theme.
Desert colours and gold
shades give luxe and elegance to the collection that pays homage to Turkish
wedding traditions with detailed veils. Complex in its layering both in terms of
concept and technique, the designer talks about the look she wanted portray
saying “I wanted the girl to be a little bit sporty, like working men
but staying as a woman and being feminine”
Introducing
pastel colours throughout the collection, the pale shades soften the look of
the metallic and studs. It’s the harshness of brave take on using metallics
that make Zeynep Tosun and interesting designer. It’s about keeping things
mixed and always evolving with Zeynep. Smart Blazers paired with transparent
mesh and cut outs, the sportswear influence is apparent in her work.
"The veils here are
influenced by Turkish tradition, like a wedding veil." The
designer talks about the beautifully embellished veils, one of the highlights
of her S/S13 collection.
Feathered prints like
tattoos adorn the few pieces that bring the collection full circle, ending with
a refined look that shows an international flair in her work. Zeynep Tosun is a
designer that keeps on moving, exploring new ideas and balancing the classic
with the modern creating her own individual style.
