ONES TO WATCH| Ming Pin Tien S/S13

Ones To Watch: Ming Pin Tien SS13 Catwalk Show from VAUXHALL FASHION SCOUT on Vimeo.

Vauxhall Fashion Scout is responsible for launching a whole generation of young talent - alumni including William Tempest, David Koma and Felder Felder. Through our Ones to Watch initiative we nurture the future of British design talent by providing them with a platform and all the support they need to launch their design careers. Hand-picked for Vauxhall Fashion Scout's Ones to Watch showcase for S/S13 is Ming Pin Tien, Charlotte Simpson, Hana Cha and Hellen van Rees.

Ming Ping Tien has once again captured our attention with his leather buckled formations encroaching across the female form. Acting as armour in caged architectural embodiments at the most extreme level, this collection rang true of the Metaphorical Distance style we saw last season. It was an exploration of human character.

Cropped jackets and coats that sat sturdily on the body in a military fashion injected a sense of masculinity against the nude and scarlet palette. Graphic prints applied to floating dresses implied an armour for the warrior woman of 2013 whilst actually exposing unseen emotions within.

The Taiwanese designer combined a sense of womanly design and masculine force in his Ones To Watch Collection, exploring multi layered hems and elaborate pleat features on garments of varying lengths. As ever his conceptual approach was beautifully apparent, although with this collection he explored wearable elements in greater detail.
