Today saw the
exhibition of men and women’s designer Sasha Kanevski at the Kiev Fashion Days
Exhibition in Freemasons Hall. His brand aesthetic takes inspiration from the
concept of uniforms, with functionality being a key component in his designs.
His AW13
Collection is based around menswear and showcases an eclectic mix of
earthy-colours, kahki and maroon to be precise, contrasted with prints derived
from traditional ancient Ukrainian carpet patters. He works with a fusion of
velvet, soft wool, thick silk and quilted materials which are demonstrated in
his double breasted jacket, cross collar shirts and printed suits.
An important
aspect of his designs is functionality, which combined with the aspect of
wearability, produces distinctly sophisticated and elegant results.
