Ones to Watch - Ada Zanditon

john cena
Susie Bubble in the front row, Patrick Wolfe in the second and a whole host of hipsters from London’s bustling club scene.  The time was right for one of the most hotly anticipated shows of the season. The first frenetic notes of music skittled out over the runway and our greedy eyes drank in soft jersey harem pants, barely grey and high-waisted, printed with geometric patterns and so comfy-looking you could cry.

Following these, and accompanied by an increasingly up-tempo soundtrack, came a cacophony of aggressively structured, perfectly executed pieces that begged the question ‘how does she do that?’  Hexagonal patches formed 3-D skirts that defied entrance through normal doors.  Ruching and pleating clustered around bare skin cut-aways and it was all played out in a palette of brightest reds, royalest blues and more-than-muted dove-like grey.

Underlying the hard corners and technical wizardry of Zanditon’s collection was a sense of cool femininity, perfectly illustrated by the sumptuous, rosetted neck ruff of the final look.  Ada - for the excellent show and for the clothes, we salute you. Emma Hopkinson
