Each season Basharatyan V bases its collection on a
world location of exceptional beauty. This
season, designer Veronica Basharatyan has been inspired by Iceland and in
particular by Heidmork, an Icelandic nature conservation paradise, which lends
its name perfectly to the labels AW14 collection.
Live music opens the show and sets the mood for what
is to follow, Icelandic singer Emiliana Torrini’s haunting tones fill the
catwalk as a parade of ice queens take to the runway. A colour palette of icy
blues, forest green and cream is strikingly contrasted by bursts of
electrifying red. Models complete with sparkling icicle inspired silver lips and
matching exaggerated bowl cut wigs that sat atop their heads displayed soft
and feminine silhouettes.
There is a definite tactile quality to this collection with luxurious mohair, leather, wool and silk highlighting the collections versatility. Each garment successfully captures an arctic aura, pieces are form fitting yet their sleek silhouettes are contrasted with draping pleated v-necklines and oversized mohair detailing. Striking coats and vests, and cardigans with contrast paneling are Basharatyan V’s key pieces for AW14. Midi skirts and cropped shirts feature heavily at the start of the show leading the way for a plethora of tailoring and floor-length gowns in a stunning pastel print.

London College of Fashion graduate Veronica
Basharatyan effortlessly captures a feeling of an frost filled paradise in her
AW14 collection, and beautifully integrates her brands signature ribbon knit
detailing as print on silk.
