After a spectacular showcase of her AW14 collection last night at Fashion Scout, we caught up with the designer to talk about her inspirations and the woman behind the brand.
What is it about the
1950s that inspires you?
It’s the era that changed perspectives on women and what
they should be. In the war, women were taking men’s jobs and were no longer
just house wives, they were conquering the world.
How would you
describe the Hema Kaul woman?
Very feminine, classy, confident, a woman who likes the
drama of standing out in a crowd. I love the strong-look, the ‘poof’ and fitted
shapes.
What do you think of
FashionScout as a platform for emerging designers?
I think it’s a great . Although we’re off-schedule designers
we are still able to have the experience. London is an amazing place to be seen
and recognised away from our home countries.
