This afternoon at Fashion Scout saw
urban jungle met by lavish glamour, when Bernard Chandran’s collection took the
catwalk by storm. Celebrated by a wealth of prestigious clients, Bernard’s
collections never fail to exemplify designs which are both fresh and
distinctive, whilst seductive and edgy; and the SS14 Collection was by no means
an exception to the rule.
The whole affair can only be described
as an eccentric explosion of lurex-coated Royal Pahang silks and avant-garde tailoring;
showcased through a plethora of metallic hues, textured silk brocades, graphic
tubular beading, embellished hem lines and exaggerated shape forms.
Taking inspiration from the streets, the
sensations of it’s landscape and it’s myriad of subcultures, the collection
took us on a thrill seekers journey from the palace to the pavement, the
pinnacle of the collection - the portrayal of an urban princess crowned in her
embellished tiara, her glitter fueled headphones in tow, of course, echoing her
21st century beats.
The collection encompassed futuristic
tailoring and shape forms, whilst remaining quintessentially elegant and
traditional. A collection both striking and intriguing.
