Post-show interview with Bunmi Koko

Photography by Lucas Seidenfaden
After the show we popped backtage to catch up with the designer.

Bunmi, how are you feeling?
Amazed and relieved and excited and over the moon

What was your inspiration for your Spring Summer collection?
It was all to do with sea sirens and the whole Greek mythology behind it. We wanted to do something that hasn't been done before, not too mermaid-y. I kind of had the idea of beauty, entrapment and danger and how they allure sailors into being shipwrecked and that's kind of what we wanted to do. The prints were inspired by the fish, anemone, and the corals from the sea. We had that on the laser cutting, using neoprene; scuba diving fabric.

Your shapes and cuts were very different from last season...
We had kind of like a more scientific silhouette, much more tapered down and we kind of wanted to do something a bit more feminine, more flirty. Which I thought would be quite appropriate for the season as well.

Have you enjoyed working with Vauxhall Fashion Scout for the past three seasons?
Yeah, great team; obviously Toni & Guy...Everybody that we worked with, it's been really good!
